brake pad sensor warning after pad change
Hey guys
yesterday i took my car to have the pads switched over to track pads. one clip (right front) snapped so a new one was placed. The sensors were the same ones i have used since i bought the car. i left the shop and there were no warnings or anything. Today i was driving on the highway i hit a bump in the road and brake pad sensor warning came on. I checked the front and right rear wheel i don t see any wires hanging or anything. i ll take the car to get it looked at. any experiences? do u guys drive without the pad sensors? when u switch pads do you leave sensors off? if a sensor breaks do i need to change the pad as well or just the sensor? |

Which track pads? Some don't accommodate the sensors or one could have come loose without dangling so you could see it. While annoying you're pads being new (?) are fine. Try pulling off the wheels and see if you can find a loose sensor. Some people that frequently change pads or know enough about their wear rates just clip the sensors and splice the wires together to eliminate the warnings. Or you can temporarily zip tie them out of the way and live with the warning.
Here is a thread showing how to disable them if you choose to do so: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319185

The sensor doesn't actually measure the pad wear. You can be low on pads in actuallity and replace them. Your sensor will still indicate the pads are low unless you get the counter reset. The sensor serves to wear thru at the extreme limit of use then gives a different warning which is a real indication of need for pads not just a computer guestimate based on driving style.
