Question 2011.5 Combox without bluetooth

I'm about to buy a 2011.5 m3 that has the combox but has no "Telephone" option in iDrive, and seemingly no way to connect to bluetooth. It has the following options that seem relevant:

VIN: E369279
Prod. date 2010-10-13

6FL USB-/AUDIO INTERFACE
6UH TRAFFIC INFORMATION
6VC CONTROL COMBOX
609 NAVIGATION SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL
620 VOICE INPUT SYSTEM
693 SATELLITE TUNER PREPARATION

I searched the forums for a few hours and found this post from 4 years ago where Technic is saying there is no OEM solution to add bluetooth to combox.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ight=bluetooth

Can anyone tell me if there is an OEM option now?

I need telephone with a high-quality mic (for work) and would like audio and everything else. If OEM isn't possible, I could go for an aftermarket stealth install, but that is *not* my preference. I'd like to thank Technic in advance for getting me this far!

How did this guy/dealer possibly order a car with nav, ipod, traffic, etc and not get bluetooth?

I am sure there are a few vendors on the forum who can offer you an OEM solution given you have iDrive. It could be just coding to turn the telephone option back on or replacing the combox.

Patryk and Mike Benvo are a couple I know of who offer their services through this forum. Good Lock!

It is very easy to retrofit Bluetooth if you already have Combox installed. Of course I am taking about OEM solution. I have sent you PM.

You should be able to just add the MIC and then programming.

I have just bought a 2011.5 optioned the same way. Would you mind copying/pasting the same info over to me? Is it just coding needed or something more? The car is being shipped to me, so I won't fully know what's on my hands for a few more days, but mine is optioned the same and confirmed via VIN (same 6 option codes listed by OP).

I've never heard of a car equipped with a Combox and Nav yet no Bluetooth. 2011+ M3s have the BT built into the head unit anyways. There's no 639 or 640 on your car????

Bluetooth is actually not in the head unit, it's in the combox or TCU. There are strangely optioned cars out there without phone preparation. Bluetooth only became built into the head units as of the introduction of the NBT system.

I have discovered that I have a microphone (I assume that's why the Voice Command for nag works!) but I do not have a Bluetooth antenna, located under the left side of the driver's side panel above the legs. Working on getting an antenna and the connector for it, and then hopefully it's just coding from there.

Can anyone help me with my CIC retrofit w/ Combox Media? Similar scenario...

My bluetooth is not working - shows "Please wait..." perpetually and I cannot connect my phone. I can access all the Telephone menus but they all say "Please wait...". My old CCC had bluetooth functioning as well as a TCU that was replaced by the Combox.

On my CIC main menu it's only showing BMW Assist instead of ConnectedDrive/Apps. Would this be a part of the problem?

Finally got this working, thanks to marius76! Had to work through some kinks due to my weird option combo (2011.5, Combox and iDrive but no Bluetooth), but ultimately just needed to install a BT antenna in the trunk (simple), run a couple of wires from Combox to the glovebox area, and some remote coding from marius76. So happy!!

Take a pic of your combox so we can see the wiring connected to it. Betcha you just don't have the BT cable which leads to the receiver.

I needed to run the black, yellow, and clear wires from the Combox connector to a connector near the glovebox. marius76 provided that to me.

Hello everyone,

I just found this thread and it describes exactly my problem. I got the combox but no bluetooth.

I'm gonna get the box coded soon, so that bluetooth and hands free phone will be enabled.

What I couldn't find out is what wires do I need exactly. From this thread I gathered that I need an antenna of course and I need to connect the preexisting microphone.
But how? Which parts - with numbers? and What connects to what and where?

marius76 could you be so kind and help me please and tell me exactly what I need?
My VIN is: F041706

Big thanks in advance!
Virgil

Exactly what I did on my GF's car!

Check if the box you have is a 'MULF' then it is off to BMW to buy the mic and cable.
It takes ca 2h to do the installstion, then you need coding. I got it at BMW but that was to get the car updated in general as well.

So if got the antenna and mics. Anyone have any idea in where the Mic need to be plugged in. Is it by the combox or on the harness by the radio. Or somewhere else completely. Have a Bluetooth combox and idrive. Jap spec so no voice or Bluetooth at the moment

I am in a similar position. I have a 2012 E92 M3 with:

S609A Navigation system Professional

S620A Voice control

S694A Provisions for BMW 6 CD changer

S698A Area-Code 2 for DVD

S6FLA USB/Audio interface

S6VCA Control for Combox

But no telephone or bluetooth available on idrive. Would it be possible to let me know how you managed to install your's and whats required for me to get mine going. Cheers in advance.
