I heard great thing about this charge pipe but I also heard about the fitment issues on some members. So I just went with Dinan (especially with 10% off sale + 100 bucks Dinan gift certificate). No problem on the fitment.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter witch brand you have (Dinan or Technocraft), adding bigger diameter elbow/charge pipe, def. works.

I'm sure other vendors will make cheapo versions of them soon.

same here i got the Dinan and had some credit left there from some old M5 parts i sold to a member so it worked out cheap for me and i know there was R and D done on the Dinan and dyno runs done so i felt more comfortable. i like mine so far how bout you??

note not saying anything bad about the Techno just speaking my personal preference

that was another reason i didn't pull the trigger was the fitment and tape thing. i felt that some R&D should have been done on this item first along with dyno figures bf rushing out the door for sale to public. i may get one down the road after the kinks are worked out and if i sell my Dinan one

And did you take a look inside the charge pipe after clamping down to manifold w/o air filter on? Not sure what yours looked like but i could definitely see light coming through a couple of spots where the charge pipe and manifold connect i.e. poor fitment. I mean the gaps aren't huge, gaping holes but are significant enough that particles of dust, dirt, sand could potentially get through, not to mention hot air. This is after the tape mind you.

The big deal is paying 700 for something that you kinda have to ghetto rig a little bit. Did they not take fitment and a good seal on both ends of the charge pipe into consideration? Pretty retarded if they didn't. Again, overall, the piece is pretty nice and I definitely felt some performance gains as well. Before the charge pipe I only had BMC air filter and fabspeed X-pipe and barely noticed the performance increase. With the charge pipe I definitely noticed the increased power in the low rpm range.

Hmmm....no sponsors chiming in??? Where's the Technocraft reps to justify the fitment issues?

It's purposely designed this way due to for easy installation and un-installation and also want to make this charge pipe stay away from issues from the possible failure connector on both ends. Hope this help. =)
Thanks for the input...already read that off of your website. So what exactly is a lubricating dust seal???

More explanation on the electric tape:

The hard connection design of the charge pipe was to eliminating the accordian style rubber couplers that creates turbulence by interrupting airflow. this will require a gap of .025-.035 for an ease of install. the best and easiest solution was to use a plastic tape... electrical tape was choosen because of its availability in any store and the ideal temperature range (-40-+220 degree F).

also the use of tape as an easy and off the shelf seal is ideal because the gaps between the Envy pipe and the intake manifold is less than .035". a special seal could have been provided, but what happens when you accidentally tear the tape or it deteriorates over time and need a replacement? the use of electrical tape in the design is very ideal since it can be purchased realatively easy from anywhere.

Eric =)

Offer up some cash to help cover the cost and I'm sure you'll get your dyno. Most people probably won't bother taking the car to the dyno with just this part IMHO.

Bought my charge pipe from Eric last week, and I love it!

Install was pretty easy for me, most time consuming part hands down is taking all the torx screws out.

Fitment is perfect, look is awesome, and though the power gains aren't huge, you can definietly feel the acr pull a bit more.

Highly reccomend the Envy Charge Pipe and Eric@PYSpeed!

Here is a picture of my Dinan intake. It came with a filter which I am sure adds to the price.

I like the Dinan intake, but the Envy plus a MS Filter will still run you about $150 less.
