News about vent holes

I was yesterday in Garching, R&D place for BMW ///M
I had the oportunity to see the E92 M3 IRL, I smelled it, and I have taken a seat in it
Wat a beautifull day it was, I must confess, I did hear it`s engine running, just incredible!!
Now for the vent holes in the hood;
The one on the right is non functional, just for cosmetic reasons. The one on the left is used to suck extra air into the engine. This had to be done because at high RPM there wasn`t enough air pressure available. At 8400RPM the engine needs 400 liter air/minute.
I also asked about the power dome; Yes it is becouse off the airbox acording to BMW people.

Cool, you lucky fellow! However, as shown in the pic in the previous post the "news" about the vent holes is very old.

i'll tell you what i DON'T see in that picture... a DIPSTICK. is it too much to ask for both a dipstick and an electronic oil level monitor?

i look forward to seeing how the aftermarket will come up with a better intake system than that.

i can't wait to see this thing in action when it finally comes out.

Forgotten;
1 At idle speed the engine is running smoooooooooooooooth, you can barly hear it.
2 Clutch is verry light compared to a E46 M3 MT
3 Gear lever is verry short, must I like it that way, the old one was far more bigger.
4 Best exterior/interior I have seen; Silvertone and Fox red leather ( Looks like Terra on the sedan), just awesome IMO

I would love to see that drab engine bay spritzed up with a CAI. Just think what this beast could put out if it had two Air intakes. Go on BMW, get rid of the water reservoir and put another intake on it...

Just for correctness

The info about the bonnet intake and how much air it takes was already on BMW.com's very first M3 pages quite some time ago

No dipstick

Just like with the M5, even if they wanted to add one, the oil system design wouldnt give acurate readings on a dipstick

Hood Scoop

I would have infinite respect for BMW M if they put in an oldschool Hood Scoop on the M3....FUGLY as hell but dang it would be funny as hell too.

Dipstick, we don't need no sticking dipstick.

All the dipsticks will be driving the other cars trying to challenge the M3 at every stoplight.

I'm being pedantic here but the hole in the bonnet is not a vent. It's an intake. A vent is something which expels air (or likewise), whereas this is an intake.
