V1 Hardwire Help Needed

Just took delivery of my E90 M3. I am attempting to hardwire my Valentine1 in the moonroof area. Followed the DIY by plpeeple. Apart from the panel tabs being totally different, I was able to find the green/white striped wire, and tapped into it. Got a big fat lotta nuttin! Grounded to several sources, crimped the crap out of the tap. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Not 100% sure on this but isn't it green/orange wire?

I know I'm not really helping but this is exactly why it's just so much better to run a tap from the fuse box up the A pillar.

Good luck with your issue.

It is the white/green wire, that's where I tapped mine

What type of clamp did you use?

you sure it spliced in well?.

also, what grounds did you try?

There are two green wires up there. Be sure to chose the closest to the driver's side. One green wire works, the other doesn't.

This, plus with the carbon fiber roof I used the driver side sunvisor base for my ground terminal. Hope this helps.

I just drilled a small hole into the roof subframe...worked fine

Thank you all for the replies. Car is getting ClearBra placed now, so I will try again later today. I used the clamp supplied by Valentine 1. I will make sure the wire is deeply embedded in the clamp - although it may be difficult to disconnect it. Also, I grounded it to the torx 15 screw - also tried the screw to what looks like the moonroof motor. Looks like I will also try the 10mm bolt that is a bit more difficult to get to. I have done this exact install previously on my E46 M3 and E60 M5 with zero issues. Ughh.

THIS is the key. Absolutely correct.

They are very similar. It's not like prior generations.
Go with what you think is correct. If that does not work then just try the other one. You will get it correct, and you won't hurt anything.

As to the ground screw/bolt ... that's easy. Don't use that motor/Torx screw. Use the bolt that is a little difficult to reach. Loosen it, loop the wire or the spade around it and tighten.

Good luck.

When I did this install I disconnected all of the harnesses to get to the green/white wire. I too got a big nothing. I then plugged everything back in and it worked.

Yeah, it seems like I had a bit of a hiccup when I hardwire a V1 into either the '07 E91 or the '06 M3 Coupe. Everything seemed to be connected properly but I likewise got no power. Reconnecting and/or recrimping solved the issue in my case.

^ Yes make sure you snap your connectors back to the black box otherwise no power is going to the v1.

Update: First of all, Thank You so much for all the help. Grounded to the 10mm bolt (PITA). Had the correct wire - Green with white stripe. The problem was with the Tap. Used another one and Bingo. Yet another 15min task that took - oh - too damn long! Thanks again - GREAT Forum

To power the green/white stripe wire...you need to press the start/stop button. Took me a couple of minutes to figure it out.
