Hesitation when making a U-turn?
Hey Guys,
So I'm wondering if anyone else experiences the car slowing down and the steering wheel getting very tight when taking a U-turn? I almost feel that the front tires are skipping and the transmission is holding me back from making a smooth U-turn.... Could it be the Diff? I don't see DSC flashing. Car is 2013 E93 fully loaded (DCT, DDC, etc) Anyone experience this? |

If your steering is getting tight when turning, check your power steering fluid. Make sure that is not too low. The steering should be smooth all the way through the turns.

Maybe if I didn't do that all of the time I'd have the experience you're talking about ... I'll try it next time and see. |

Its the power steering pump..if you turn the wheel full lock it can "choke" or "slow" the flow of power steering fluid from the resevoir to the pump..this is why you should never turn the steering wheel all the way to full lock..or you can damage you power steering pump..
I always turn part way.. even if it means another forward-reverse manuever in a U-turn,, its worth it |

Ahhhh interesting ... never thought about that ... as a dude who grew up in the 80s I used to HAVE to spend my weekends working on my car or it didn't run during the week. If I turned to lock I'd get the squeal that would wake up the neighbors - so I guess that habit was beaten out of me decades ago

DSC: Off.
Steering; Hard-over. Gas; ON!!! Off off, now off!!! U-turn in 1/2 lane accomplished. Lather, rinse, repeat.
