Which bike would you get?
Hey guys, I dont know how many of you guys ride but for those who do (and those who dont) which bike would you go for, the Harley V-Rod Muscle or the BMW S1000rr?
Obviously I understand that these two bikes are very different and serve two different purposes but that is where I am stuck. I currently am riding a 2009 Honda CBR 600rr. This was my first bike and I loved it but I am ready for something else. I have ridden the S1000rr and I immediately fell in love with it. It handles and rides extremely smooth compared to my CBR 600. I also love all the technology, power (which is not one of my major concerns), and especially the looks! The only downsides to me are the uncomfortable ridding posture on sport bikes like this. If you go on a ride longer then an hour then your back and ass are usually hurting. Also, the lack of storage. I dont like having to always have to wear a back pack every time I want to carry something. On the other hand, I have always loved the V-Rod Muscle. Notice I said Muscle because I dont really care for the other versions. I have not ridden one but just sitting on it, it seems way way more comfortable and yet, still quite sporty. I love fact that I would be able to take it on much longer rides then my body can take on the sports bike. I also really like the fact that I would have the option to put bags and a windshield on it when I did go on longer rides (which isnt that often but would probably increase in frequency if I had this bike). What would you guys choose? Here are some picts of the bikes.....

Glad someone out there likes the V-Rod Muscle...it's the only chopper style bike I like. I'd personally get the S1000rr, but that's because crotch rockets are my cup of tea. Can't go wrong with either. That V-Rod is baller.

Btw asking this question with the BMW as an option will get you an extremely biased set of poll results.

Why is when people do these kind of polls about what they should buy, the things they are buying are total opposites of each other?
The BMW is sport bike, the harley is a cruiser....which do you plan on doing? Taking the wife for weekend rides to the furthest bar and grill, or so you plan on weekends at the track cutting up the curves? Both of those scooters were built for different intentions, for me to tell you which one you want, I would need to know why you want it . No disrespect meant in any of this, just starting to bug me a little seeing all the polls for people to compare apples and steak. P.S. I voted for the BMW. |

I understand that the S1000rr is a great bike... but it's completely overkill. How often are you going WOT to redline on your 600? In which gears? If you want to take a bike to the track, then keep the 600. If you want to carve up backroads, then keep the 600. The only reason to have a liter bike on the street is for the lowend torque, but you obviously don't like to ride very long (due to the posture, which is understandable) and it doesn't seem like you need it for passengers. Have you considered anything in between these two extremes? A Speed Triple or a Monster or something along those lines? |

Of the two, I'd pick the S1000RR. But personally, I went Italian......

Sarah you ride!?!?!
And is this a fucking serious question? How in the hell can you compare a balls out litre bike bred on the track to a high displacement tourqey cruiser/harley. You can compare apples to oranges. The determining factor should be solely YOU. If it were a litre bike comparison then we could maybe highlight more of the pros and cons and leave it to you to come to your personal favourite. But this comparison, not so much. Please, please dont call either of these bikes a "scooter" Last edited by Razzy; 11-30-2011 at 06:10 PM.. |

I drove an 07 gixer from 07-09.
I voted for the bimmer With that being said, they are fucking death machines and are made to do stupid ridiciously dumb things on.... I sold mine because of my lack of self control on the bike and my friend being arrested for running from 5 cops I would go on further but Id rather not be a ba/incriminate myself. Get a cruiser |

Look at middle ground, ie Monster, Speed Triple, etc. If its in the budget, a guy I know has an MV Agusta Brutale, it's comfy to sit on(I haven't ridden it though), sexy as hell, and I'm pretty sure it's about 900cc but don't quote me. Fairly light for its size too.
