What tires did you get?

Hey guys, I have an E92 M3 on order right now and I am just wondering what tires your guys cars have been arriving with? PS2s or Continental?

Which ones do you guys think are better? Why?

I have read lots of articles that basically say the PS2's are one of the best you can get. I talked to my dealer and they claim there is no way of knowing or specifying which tires are going to be on my car.

Your car may come with any of the three mentioned. The Conti is not a bad tire, and will have a longer tread life than the PS2. The PS2 has more grip, no doubt. I've had them on several cars, and it's a great street tire. The sidewalls are a bit softer than some, but for street use that's of no matter. My '11 E92 came with the Conti tire, and I acutally like it better than I was expecting. If you push it hard, it will break away before the PS2, but it's very manageable.

2011 ZCP with Contis.

At first I was skeptical about this tire, but after 1,000 miles, I can vouch for it: grip is phenomenal. Very happy with them.

'11 with PS2's. If you are going to track it, get rid of the conti's asap. They are fine street tires, but not up to track duty.

ZCP with Contis, took the car to The Ring and the Contis performed great. Much to do about nothing IMO.

For track duty, unless you go with an R comp, I wouldn't expect you to notice much of a difference between the PS2 and Contis.

And frankly, get a set of track tires (r-Comps or separate non r-comps) and wheels. Two or three trips and it's paid for itself.

I got the Contis, July 2010 build. I was a little bummed about it until I drove it for a while. I'll never see the difference in traction and if they do last a little longer thats a plus for me.

I run on the Pirelli P Zero's. They're great: stick like glue, but they melt quiickly in Houston.

For track duties, PS2s are useless too.
