I'd say the typical M3 owner is 19-36ish? I've seen a few 40-55ers, but not many. I'm 19, almost 20, also bought mine by myself.

It seems like most M3 drivers I've seen are men in their late 30's - early 40's.

Although there is a young lady in my neighborhood about 25 years old who drives one. I'm guessing it was a graduation present from a loaded dad.

But typcial drivers I see are men in their late 30's to early 40's. Has this been your observation as well?
why does it have to be a gift? You don't think she could of bought it herself?

Um - how many people on this forum are women - very few I think.

The vast majority of women would be more than happy to lease a 335 for $500/mo and spend $500/mo at the spa or on travel or on interior design.

Most young ladies simply aren't fanatical enough about cars to fork over $1K/mo to lease an M3.

I know a few. And many of them have paid cash. You don't have to be a fanatic to appreciate a fine car

I think it's a peer group thing - a group of ladies generally doesn't care if another lady drives a car with 400hp.

Usually, a lady can't even quote you the horsepower for her car - she just knows it has "get up and go".

Maybe this young lady in my neighborhood paid cash for her m3 and she's a total spec head. No way to know for sure.

Red face

70 and retired. Traded my e93 335i for a 2011 e93 M3, still on order. Not a late life crisis. I have long history of performance cars. Mustang Cobra, early GTO, 4 Corvettes, (C2, C3 and C4), Roadrunner, J2 Oldsmobile, SHO, and a 1950 Ford hot rod (high school) , most purchased new.

In this thread is the first time that I have become annoyed with people including the ZCP in their "story".

"I'm 21 and I have a 2011 ZCP"

That's great, you're 21, and the 2011 ZCP is a mere $2k more than non ZCP on a $60k+ car.

NO ONE CARES YOU HAVE ZCP.

Don't be jealous of him

People do it cause it does stand out; different rims, sits lower.
Maybe cause when the ZCP e46 came out, it was a pretty big thing back then compared to the std M3

Usually yeah..but there are cases where they will know more about the car than you (or most guys)
And I know MANY MANY MANY guys who don't even know the power of their OWN car

You do realize there are men AND women who don't care about a 'measly' $1k right?

Yeah it's a hefty amount to most people, most of us, but I know of women who make that without question.

Shouldn't be too quick to judge

There is a woman on here with a SG E90 M3 who seems very knowledgeable about her car too

I'm not saying your generalization is not well found or anything.. just that it's not good to assume it's a gift purely based on the fact that she's female.

37. Business owner. Purchased my M3 myself.

My first Bimmer was the 325i when I was broke.
My M3 is my fourth BMW, not all in a row.
Tried other high-end manufacturers, German and Japanese.
Somehow I've always come back to the BMW brand.

There's just a different feeling driving a Bimmer.
