He's too excited about his car arriving & this is having an effect on his typing

Collected my car from the 1st Service on Friday.

This car is just too silly to drive around town at anymore that 2,500rpm. Anyway, I managed to get it over a little more than that on the way home & OH SHIT....!

I'm now wondering how long the rear tyres are going to last on these things..

I'll be in the states next week, back on the 29th. But if you guys want to meet that's fine by me. We can all catch up properly in October and Androo will definitely have his car by then.

any one else a bit annoyed at the fact that there is a facelift to the 3 series including the m3 coming out in 2009?

to think that you just bought a nice car n then suddenly being told theres a newer version coming out with different tail lights. very angry at bmw. the only good thing about the m3 is that the only changes are the taillights, which i think are ugly. and also the idrive system and a new color.

what is everyone elses opinion on this change?

I’m not too worried about the tail lights but assuming the new idrive makes it to the new E92 then I am pretty annoyed. The new idrive seems to be a quantum leap and given its reported functionality and features such as onboard drive it will have some effect on the market value of existing vehicles especially given the criticism of the old system. The relatively limited number of OZ M3s delivered since October last year will always now be tagged as pre update. Given that the first DCTs only arrived in Australia around May/June, to then have a new idrive a few months later is pretty slack of BMW/BMWA imo. Perhaps BMWA will offer free upgrades

Nonetheless its still a great car and while the idrive situation is annoying the vehicles fundamentals haven’t changed – grin and bear it I think and just enjoy it.

I was fairly certain the tail light upgrade was just on the sedan's.. Who is going to buy a M3 sedan anyway?

I'm not concerned about the new iDrive buttons etc etc.

Have to admit i considered waiting for the new I drive when i first saw it,, but that only lasted about a minute or two. The interface is great and sure there are some great features but just like all computers and phones they are obselete as soon as they arrive here anyway.

I thought how much time i spend using the i drive on my 335 and really it made no sense end of the day you still have to push buttons and get to where you want.

As for the facelift i dont think anything else changes on the coupes anyway, look back at the E46 model life and the M3 remained the same look, it never got the new headlights etc as the regular upgrades, i was told BMW wanted to segregate all sectors of the models into sedan, coupe, convert M3

I can't believe my sales rep is taking two days off, talk about selfish

Oh well won't be long now what's another few days to add to 9 months.

Oh........... hello aggie Thought you'd like that one..

What are the smartphone intergration benefits? I have my HTC Diamond Touch synced via Blue Tooth automatically when I get into the car & my iPod connected permanently under the centre arm rest. Too easy!

The little womans Apple iPhone is also synced to my car.

Too true.

I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of these M3's! Did you end up ordering a number plate or am I thinking about someone else?

Hey LuKe,

Yes I dropped the euro plates off last week we just got the standard size. My partner ordered the black ones, they look really nice.

The only real advantage is that I can have my iPhone in the cradle and get full access to both the phone and music. Other than that it seems much as you'd get with that fancy double cable contraption.

I'll be looking out for some M3 sedans while I'm here let me tell you! Long trip but we've made it. Got a Ford Exploder as a rental. Same price as a full size sedan and the Buick Lacrosse they offered us was both dirty and bloody horrible!
