Why not go with a performance filter like AA green filter?

We recommend the Macht Schnell Performance Filter - most on the forum are running this brand.

Filters are good for about 5whp, and come pre-oiled. Let me know if you want one!

When properly maintained, there are no problems with oiled cotton gauze filters.

Otherwise, stock will be your only option, AFE might have a paper filter option. Do keep in mind that 08-09 models have a charcoal liner (emissions purposes) that is very restrictive.

I have the AA one and am happy with it.

I would suggest BMC or AA, or the stock Euro one.

I know many that don't bother with the MS filter since you need to install an adapter if you are 2010 or later. All the other brands make a modified euro version to fit-bmc, AA. I have had both and both are the same benefit to me and I agree it is worth it over stock for the sound alone

Do you mean, the filter? Or somewhere in the intake tract?

I have an 09 and would like to remove anything restrictive...

The Green filter above clearly shows an aluminum adapter on top.

The MS does not need an adapter for the 08-09 models. On 10-13 models, they switched to the paper filters (present on all EU models), which has a different length mounting pin.

Instead of wedging a button between the filter/centering pin and squeezing into place, a replacement (correct length) centering pin is provided on 10-13 models. Does either method matter in terms of performance? No.

Replacing the stock filter (charcoal lined) would be a good start. We have plenty of Macht Schnell filters stock to remedy this.

Right but the MC one you have to remove the stock piece, and place a new piece with different tools etc. The green filter drops right in with the aluminum adaptor. No tools or work whatsoever. If you want equal performance with more work go with MS
