Change to winter tires on a new order? possible?

I just placed an order on a 2013 M3 coupe.. It hasn't started production yet.

Question: Can I switch out the performance tires for winter tires on the order so it comes with winter tires at delivery?

I asked the dealer, and she kinda dodged the question and told me to just buy them separately. The reason I ask, is I'm already getting a set of ZCP 359 wheels with performance tires from a friend. I want winter tires on the standard 219 wheels. I don't want to buy another set of tires, and have the oem performance tires just sitting around.

Is this even possible?

Seriously doubt it. On an earlier E60 order I tried to see if I could switch rims and was told the same thing. You get the car as delivered from the factory and are then responsible for winter tires or any other modifications you want to make...

BMW dealers sell winter tires. Ask them if they'll do an even-up swap at delivery.

Good point by DBH. If you have a good relationship with your dealer they might go for a swap but any change will be agreed to/handled by the local dealer, not by BMW...

Nope..you have no choice over tires, and the M3 only comes with summer tires as standard equipment, you most likely get Pirelli Pzeros

I suppose you could do that... but then what happens when summer rolls around?..

IMO ..the M3 is meant to be driven with ultra performance summer tires..I personally dont use my M3 in the winter

If you're going to be riding it in the winter you're going to have to get another set of wheels and switch them out in the fall and spring.
Or I guess you could put an all season tire on the OEM rim and sell the summer tires, but where's the fun in that?

Good call by OP. Running a high performance tire designed for warmer temps in the winter is not a very good idea at all.

OP, if you dealer won't swap out brand new ps2s for a winter set (and they probably won't), don't bother purchasing from them. I would buy from someone else and sell your ps2s on Craigslist or something.

Seriously? I assume you live in NH. You must not ever drive the car in snow. Summer tires are terrible in cold (below 40F) weather. Add snow, ice or rain and they're downright dangerous. Slap some winter rubber on it and the car is a dream in the cold.
