Best brake pads

Hey guys, need a new set. Any recommendations or should I just stick with OEM? Not interested in upgrading the the whole brakes, just pads at this point. Cheers guys.

Least dusting, best track performance, least noise, most initial bite, best modulation, highest mot, there are trade offs at every turn.

Combined rack/street use. Not too concerned about dust, more about the bite and fade...

If you have low track experience something like the stoptech st pads will likely work for you but as you get faster at the track they won't cut it. Once your at that point you will either have to live with squealing and extra noise on the street with say DS2500 or switch pads the day of track events.

Another vote here for stoptech street. Good dual purpose pad that's very durable on the track in my experience. I have run them on both my 335i and M3 on track and have been very satisfied with them.

They produce more dust than the space shuttle at lift off.

Not my experience (and many others) at all. Most say it's about 20% less dust with similar initial bite and better track performance than stock, provided you bed them in properly.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I've been in the market for new pads as well and this has been the 3rd time I've heard StopTech Street Performance Pads as the best recommendation for an upgrade over stock. Definitely gonna pick up a set soon!

+1 for StopTech SP. Definitely a bit more dust but great pads for a mix of street/light track. I'm going to try coating my wheels soon to see if that helps with dust buildup.

I thinking of changing from Cool Carbon to Stoptech in the future for my street pads.

I swap out the fronts to Project Mu pads for track use but run the Cool Carbons all around on the street. I find the CC pads make squealing noises when cold and also dust up a lot. Braking performance is also not that great when cold and they chunk apart when you heat it up on track... really not a great pad for me.

Stoptech it is! Will report back in a couple of weeks.

I definitely do not want a squeaky brake, that is one of my pet peeves.

You must be confused with another pad. I run the street and race pads and they definitely produce less dust than OEM.

$150 for front and rear stoptechs, BMW Australia are after $550 for OEM pads!

Is it also true you need to change front and rear sensors with just a pad change? Thats what my local BMW told me and they cost another $150!

Depends if you wore them down far enough to melt the sensor or not
