MY2012: Correlation between production number and production date?

Looks like the one they made wrong for me is on the way here. If someone is looking for an AW/FR fully loaded, you won't have to wait to order.

Wish my correct one had begun production. Sucks I am gonna have to wait an additional month or more now.

Man, that sucks. I'm sure it'll sell quickly, though. As I recall you're missing the CF roof. I've seen a few AW w no CF driving around.

I have no idea if my car is on the Sept 28th boat or outgoing on the Oct 8th boat or something else - can't get ahold my CA to find out. I'm gonna call him every hour! lol

Yeah, that puts you at about 6-9 weeks before delivery, most likely.

Yeah, I understand completely. I don't what I'd do if that happened to me because I sold my car and am paying for a rental @ $769 / month. Guess I'd ask for an equivalent discount or a free long term loaner or something.

Funny thing is that they think they pretty much made up for the mistake cause they got me another allocation and they had to pull all these strings to do it. Blah...

Grr, failed in getting any from my CA today. He wouldn't answer until the end of the day, then said he would give me a call right back as soon as he did answer - didn't hear back from him. I love the dealership and my service guy, but I'm not very happy with the level of service from the sales side... it shouldn't take a week to get something looked up in a computer. Just venting! lol

mine too. BMW is playing around with something. I do however have the invoice sheet on my car from the dealer showing everything is included.

a simple answer "Shipped" or "Not Shipped" is not too much to ask for. Him/Her not answering doesn't change the shipping status!!

BMW is definately playing around with something back there. My car is already built and those options just fell off my build sheet too. They're probably in the process of updating the system for 2012 (finally).

Yeah, that's all I wanted to know. "yes" it left on the 28th, or "nope" missed the boat. Now I'm going to ask him 3 whole questions - that'll learn him! Lol

Yay! I finally got ahold of my CA!

According to him, my car actually did manage to make it onto a ship that left on Sept 29. I also have the VIN number now.

Is there a way for me to verify that it's on the ship via the VIN and find out when it'll be at Port Hueneme?

- Edit: Looks like cars shipped via the NYK line (Guarian Leader, I'm assuming I'm on because of the departure date) can't be tracked via VIN? Looking at the Port of Heuneme schedule, it does appear that the ship is due in on Oct 26.

He can give you a copy of the shipping report from his system. Not sure what the exact report is called but it will show your vin and what ship it's on. That's how I know mine is on the ship. I also don't think we can track via vin w/o the CA's help.

I think that the website database is being updated... my car disappeared from the status section as well and other merebers are seeing the same thing.

You could always ask your dealer/service department to print out the VIN breakdown for you so you will know exactly what it is installed in your car (wish that I would have done this last month so I would have caught the interior trim mistake):
