Bad Coils?
I got a DSC warning and engine reduced power message yesterday. I pulled over and restarted the car and it was fine and message went away. I pulled the OBDII and got the following codes:
27EB 2742 2743 2B0D 2B57 It looks like 2742 and 2743 are engine misfires for 1,3. Are these indication of bad coils? Are the other codes related to them as well? Any help is appreciated. BTW, I have test pipes, pullies, intake, GTS DCT tune, ESS tune. Incidently, I flashed back to stock then ESS tuen again just to see difference. While stock is smoother power delivery and idle, the ESS tune definitely gave more torque and power. Thanks! |

I cleared them and they haven't come back and car runs fine. It was weird because it fell on its face and did it on a left turn from a light. I almost got hit because it died in midcorner!

Literally this is exactly what happened to me today and I got the codes 27EB and 27E4.
I had my vacuum brake boost sensor "cleaned" at the shop which is what they said had caused the limp modes...a dirty sensor? anyway today it happend again and guess what? It also happened after I retuned the car back to ESS. Prior to that I had been driving the car for 1 week after they cleaned it and it was stock....it ran well. but then the other night I decided to tune it to ess ecu and dct and then the day after I went into limp mode as you did above. Could it still be the vacuum brake sensor just needs replacing? or could it be something else? Do you think it was the ESS tune? I have since then put it back to stock, but then again today it went into limp mode...but note this stock tune was from ESS. The original stock file on which it ran well for 1 week was done at the shop and not by me. Is the ESS stock file corrupted or I do have a hardware problem? |

One way I have rooted out bad coils in the past is get the car in a tall gear at about 1200 rpm and open the throttle under load. They always seem to misfire when loaded up at low rpm. Try this and see if it re creates the problem and codes.

I just had my brake fluid changed...what are the chances it leaked into the brake vacuum boost sensor underneath it? I've read about it when I look up 27E4. Don't know if I mentioned it, but my shop said they "cleaned it off" and if i start getting the same codes (see attached I did!) to be on a watch out and replace that vacuum sensor. Thoughts? |
