Slight ticking/rattle from driver side b pillar area

Ever so slight rattle coming from the driver side b pillar area..I was thinking it was the seatbelt assembly (extender?)..really hard to pinpoint.

Anyone have something similar?

Yes I had this and MANY otehr guys did here too. Hard to explain but it is essentially the pressure from the window pressing against the plastic/rubber linning in the door pillar that essiantlly holds in the window when rolled up.

Take a micro fiber towl, dampen it a bit and run the towl over the part I desrcibed top to bottom. This should take care of any squeaking for 4-6 months until it pops up again. Let me know if that worked for you.

Kool. I'll try that. So are you saying if the window is rolled down, you won't get this noise? So if I roll the window down and still hear the noise, this fix shouldn't work right?

Yes, if you roll teh window down, the noise is gone. The rattle/squaek you hear is built up friction between the window and what i would describe as the plastic buffer that holds the window in place at the top of the door. Sounds confusing, but this is how I fixed my rattle.

ok so i've put the new gummi-phledge on the seals, felt taped the b pillar, felt taped the rear left passenger panel and that ticking/vibration noise is still there. It's subtle but the fact that I can still hear it and can't get to it is driving me bananas. I'm almost thinking it's the seals but there's nothing that I'm able to do about it.

Thoughts?

I'm having the same exact issue. My car is now at the dealership for the 1200 mile service and they are going to look into this for me. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

No sure if ist's the same noise you hear, but I feel there is an intermittent subtle rattle coming from the helper handle on the roof above the driver's door.

I only hear if occasionally, on bad freeway surfaces at speed. I can stop it by pulling the handle down slightly and then leaving it down slightly as opposed to putting it fully back in place.

ok i'll have to try it. I swear i've ripped everything apart trying to find it. it's the most difficult noise to explain. i want to say that if i push hard against the glass it goes away but not sure if that's a placebo effect. rolling down the window the slightest bit (a hair), doesn't seem to make a difference. Rolling it down where you can see through just the slightest amount seems to make it go away. though i'm not sure if it's because of the road noise.

i've gotten all my other rattles to go away so this is the last...I'll try the handle. i've tried the seatbelt butler, the headrest, but it's right next to my left ear and the only thing that lines up to that area is the glass area...

Had that issue with both my 335iS and my m3. All I did was wait it out a few weeks (both cars were brand new) and it went away and has yet to return on my m3. If your not too comfortable with DIY, just wait a bit and if not after a few weeks, then bring it to service.

it's been going on for quite some time. i'm not afraid of a DIY i feel i've tried everything. going to service is tricky because either they'll not hear it or screw something else up! i'm curious to know what nockie found out!

ok so i think i figured it out. when i rest my elbow parallel to the glass right above the door rest and push against the glass, the noise disappears. so it must be that the window/glass needs tightening. i'm going to get them to do that.

Try some gummipledge around where the window meets the seal. This might work as well as the sound is likely rubbing of the two.

Might be a bit of a stretch, but I had a similar sound in my 135i. Pulled the pillar off to find a parts identification sticker inside the pillar that sticking and unsticking itself to the other side causing an annoying sound. Pulled it off, problem solved.
