Somebody hit my car...need some advice

Last Friday my car was backed into in a parking lot.

Turns out the bumper needs to be replaced.

Should I go with the factory BMW bumper or is there an aftermarket bumper than I can go with for rougly the same price? I belive the factory bumper cover costs around $600.

Ouch, that sucks. I'd go with either an EU bumper or there's some other aftermarket ones. All depends on your personal taste.

Although the pics don't show much, I would think that bumper would be salvageable.

Ask a body shop if they can work with that piece.

It's possible.

But I received two quotes, one for a reconditioned bumper and one for a new one.

I get the impression that it's my decision because the cost difference is minimal.

Yeah it sucks. I've had the car less than a month, and I was just pulling out of the parking lot after getting new wheels put on.

The RD Sport bumper is sexy.

I have a feeling it would be overly expensive though.

Had something similar happen to me recently. There is a hole in my bumper and they tried making the shop fill the hole and not replace the bumper. I fought with them and they eventually decided to replace it. The oem cover was 700 and some change. I am replacing it with a gts3 bumper. You'll probably have to put some if your own money up to upgrade from oem

It's true. I've had a hood replaced on a wrx, the body shop guy wouldn't touch it.

I vote GTS3 bumper and pay for the rest of the part out of pocket
So does it just have to be replaced due to the clips on the Kidneys being broken out?

There is nothing on the market that will be price comparable to a US Factory Bumper....

But the RD Sport Bumper is SEXY as hell and worth the extra $$$$

Sorry for the Crappy pic, it was just a snapshot...but boy is it sexy!!!

Clearly, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but the first thing that pops into my mind with that shot is "mustard biscuit", as in Tommy Lee in Slingblade. It lust looks like his jawline.

Second thing is "wait, is that an M Coupe". Something about it just looks jacked up, but it's probably just me.

Carry on - ignore the old guys.

That sucks, bro. Make sure to check you headlight housings. Same thing happened to me, except the mounting brackets for my headlight was cracked as well. Had to replace the whole headlight unit in addition to the bumper. $2k repair that I had to claim on my insurance. Plus my rates went up because the asshat that hit me wasn't responsible enough to leave a note.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Probably taking my car in on Monday to be repaired.

I'm having trouble finding the RD Sport and GTS3 bumpers. Can anybody direct me with a link?
