Unhappy PSA: M3 Flips in Rain Soaked Crash. Careful out there in the rain fellas

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
PSA.

Even though the M3 spanked an RS5 around a wet track, don't be reckless in the rain! This video is incredibly scary and well... just be careful out there. (Source: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=491706)

Luckily no one was seriously hurt after a BMW M3 crashes and rolls over after losing control in the rain, in Taiwan.

Weird, signal was on indicating he was making an aggressive lane change (by looking at speed) But he kinda just gradually went into the wall.. ? I don't know what Im trying to say, it just looks like he fell asleep. lol

That put the Dynamic in MDM! Makes you wonder about the tread depth on the tires.

I don't think skid pad solves that: He was hydroplaning, and had x amount of distance between him and the wall. If you keep on sliding until you hit the wall - practice doesn't help you...

Yes, but you're aware of how a car performs in those conditions, know its limits, and prevent these "mishaps" from even happening. It's about "pro"action not "re"action

If you have ever aquaplaned before, you will know that there is nothing even remotely predictable about it. The best way to prevent an incident like the video in the OP is to not make sudden maneuvers when there is any puddling, make sure that you have plenty of tread depth if you plan on doing any driving in the rain, and keep the wheel absolutely straight if you feel the car 'planing. Aside from that, all you can do is just pray that you gain traction before you smash into something.

thread depth, DSC on, and slow speed, that's how you prevent this...

All those things you quoted are precisely related to experience and that is what you pick up in those exercises, but your right, we're all subject to "randomness" and that is just a FACT of life!

Not good, painfully obvious that he/she was going to fast for conditions. Hope they were okay...

I've learned driving my RWD ass IS300 for the last 8 years. I've had quite a few scares in the rain/snow. I turn into an old lady once it starts raining in any RWD car. DSC on and slow speed it is!

Wouldn't have mattered, tires lost adhesion completely. Guy or girl was going to fast for his/her own good and made an abrupt maneuver on a wet surface. Hope they are recovering
