Any Nikon folks have a 10-24mm and/or a 12-24mm?

Nikon has two wide angle lenses that my friend is considering. One is the 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 and the other is the 12-24mm F4 IF. The latter is about 50% more money. Is it worth it? On the wide end, the cheaper one is faster and it's only slight slower on the narrow end. Is there a big difference in IQ between them?

I have the 12-24 F/4 but I have never used the 10-24mm so I can't say anything about it. I love my 12-24mm, it gives nice quality pics. Not a lot of CA or purplish halo effects on edges.
