I think the camaro is just butt fucking ugly...looks like a toaster oven with wheels. Sorry, I'm just not feeling it. It looks like they found a whole bunch of spare parts, and slapped them together. As far as domestic goes, nothing beats the look of a Vette...just pure, all American balls!

If it tranforms into Bumble Bee I might think about it. There is already 550 HP cars from the cadilac dealership that will probably end up weighing the same thing as Bumble Bee. The cadilac has 4 doors. So even if it transforms I would prob just go with the four door for practicality reasons. Besides........................................... .................................................. .... the interior is nicer in the cadilac.

It'll have the performance, just not the quality. I think Ford mustang feels much more closer in quality to BMW than Chevrolet ever has.

But I can't help myself asking this question to M3 owners. Every time there is a M3 vs some other car comparasion, the first thing people mention is M3's track performance. That would be fine if majority of M3 owners track their cars. I bet 95% of M3 owners never tracked their cars.

So my question is this : why do you guys take so much pride of M3's track abilities and put down other cars although you don't rack your car?

I don't mean any dis to anyone. I am just curious..
I agree that the substantial majority of M3s will never see the track, but I would say that there are plenty of people on the forum who do use them on the track. to be more relevant though, I would bet money that there are relatively more M3 drivers who bring their cars to the track than most other performance cars out there. I've been to numerous track events, and there's always strong representation from BMW ///M, Porsche, Lotus, Corvettes and a couple others - not much from other performance cars. I don't see many AMG cars or Audis, for instance.

nevertheless, don't dismiss the fact that track performance can be felt on the street. just because you don't push the limits of a car on the street doesn't mean you can't explore its competencies. there are plenty of ways to drive an M3 on the street to appreciate its exceptional balance and superb handling.

if the only thing M3 drivers cared about were straight line performance, they wouldn't have bought an M3 - a quicker car can be built for much less. everyone knows that. same thing goes for track performance - you can build a car that can lap a track quicker for less as well. the M3 has always been extremely well-reviewed for its ability to excel at so many things. cars can't be evaluated in one dimension (straight line acceleration, for example) - that's just silly. the value proposition of the M3 lies not merely in its track performance or acceleration, but also in its styling, build quality, materials, interior space and comfort. the M3's track performance really only becomes impressive when you consider its ability to be a comfortable daily driver.

lastly, I will say that the tests of the M3 against its relevant competitors by automotive journalists speak for themeselves. while I don't have any hard data, I will say that in the many years that I have been an automotive enthusiast who does a lot of reading, I can't remember a car that has won so many comparisons and received such universal praise. there's no question in my mind that BMW hit a home run with the e9x M3. the design is roughly 4 years old and it's still glorious.
1, you stole my lines.

The Shelby will stomp this car... sorry... and using the ZL1 name on a 'LSA' engine... is honestly a disgrace. This car should have been called Z-28 as always rumored. Call it a ZL1 only if you're putting in the LS9 ZR1 motor... the LSA is not even in the same league.

The Non Supercharged Camaro already weighs 4,000Lbs... what's this one going to weigh?

IMO Camaro ZL1 = FAIL

Be nice little boy otherwise all us men here on the "M" forum are going to send you back to your 335 threads where you can spend the rest of the day talking about how your Juicebox 15 (or whatever) killed a ZR-1
Why do the 335 boys constantly feel the need to come over to the M3 forums???? I mean the M3 envy stinks real bad. Is there anyway they can be denied access ??? I haven't been to the 3 forums but I'll bet there's not a whole lot of M3 guys posting nonsense over there. Their car is inferior, straight and simple. Which is fine, I had a 330ci once and was dreaming of an M3. But I never felt the need to constantly come over and tell everyone how a simple chip or a pulley mod made my car faster in a straight line than an M3. It's stupid because if any M3 owner slaps a supercharger on, game over. Spend enough money on mods and you can make a Civic or an Eclipse faster in a straight line than many exotics.

The GT-500 might end up being faster around a track, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the ZL1 is faster in a straight line on stock tires. The Shelby is way under tired and has trouble getting traction out of the hole and at a slow roll. I've heard that the ZL1 will be sporting some impressively wide rubber out back which, along with the independent rear suspension, should make it easier to launch.

The Shelby is a fun car, but I'm looking forward to getting out of mine. The lack of traction on street tires makes the car fun to drive but not that fast in my not very capable hands. Luckily, I got the VIN for my 2012 GT-R yesterday and should take delivery in March. Traction issues solved!

Thanks.

I had a 2011 GT-R for a bit and I'm excited to get back into another. The upgrades to the 2012 should make it even better.

Congrats on the GTR... good points on the Shelby being undertired... most all run around on Drag Radials from what I saw (and did)... traction 'almost' solved.

I still think the ZL1 will have a very tough time keeping with the GT500... 300+LBS... is going to hurt... no matter how good that rear bite might be.

Agreed Man!!

They always converge on this forum with the same ol' bullshit. It's always like, "Oh, so did you guys check out the new 2019 AMC Gremlin with 475bhp?" "It will probably kill your M3 right?...Discuss?"
