Suspension is one thing, but with 400+ lb/ft of torque, what is going to happen to the drive train when someone drops the clutch from a standstill? Bet the diff is going to complain, or the half shafts.

Also, aren't the bores specially treated to allow for the omission of cylinder liners? Does Dinan have access to the same etching process? If not, could be another Chevy Vega with the silicon bores going south and a new block required after about 40K miles. (I had an original Vega).

A lot of nice stuff on the car however.

While the M3 chassis is decent as far as balance, its limits are way too low to stick that much more power in it, and that is something you can't change no matter the mods. I have RE-11 tires on mine and even then the lateral g's are still only about .95, and the car isn't flat enough in the corners.

What the M3 really needs is 400lbs less weight, and be able to achieve 1.0g's without needing R compound tires and stay flat while doing it.
Are you using stock suspension? If yes, then there lies your answer for getting over 1.0g.

Hate Dinan in Campbell, CA...

First of all as much as i like their cars, i hate the raciest people that work there, they don't care about you at all, and all they want is your money..
They wanted like $1000 to do a transmission fluid change for my 740i, i got it done at BMW for only $500.... Watch out for these people...!
I'm Glad BMW have Drop them ...

Wow... Im surprised all of you guys are hating Dinan. To me this looks like a very good package and power increase for someone whos's not wanting to go forced induction. As far as the price goes im just a little bit throwing off, your drive a 60k BMW M3, reach down inside your pants grab the balls you found when you purchased your M3, pick up your phone call Dinan and pay them there money lol. This car would probably be a blast to drive and somewhat of a sleeper(if thats possible in an M3) Please someone buy this so we can read some reviews. Just my 2cents.

"Dinan in Campbell" is the old A&E Performance. That is one of the nicest places to have your car worked on anywhere. Steve bought that place from Al while Al was going through a divorce a couple of years ago. They are longtime friends and Steve actually worked for Al early in his career. It is well run and well managed as are all of the Dinan shops.

The fact that you would rather let Steven's Creek BMW work on your car speaks volumes.

What are the performance numbers against a stock M3?? 0 to 60, 1/4 mile, Top speed. I would like to see a comparison to a stock M3.

Actually, a well chosen aftermarket suspension and 275/295 tires will probably do just that.

But then, who cares about maximizing the G number? If you stiffen the suspension, lower the car and add wide sticky rubber pretty much any car can achieve over 1G, yet that tells absolutely nothing about how it handles.

Man I had absolutely no clue whatsoever how many G's the M3 was pulling when I ordered it...

dumb question: Their website lists the 4.6 motor at $22k. Is this a brand new motor, or is that YOUR motor, converted to 4.6? If it IS a brand new motor, is there are a core charge deal where you have to give them your OE motor?

Thanks.

I used to worship Dinan stuff back in the day. I had a Dinan S2 E36 M3... it was ok

The engine is pre-built, you have to send your original engine back as a core.

There will be some reviews in Roundel and Car & Driver in the coming months.
