Great...Just what I needed.

So I drove the Cayman R last night. What a car. And my dream car was on the lot. 2007 GT3 RS in orange.

In comparison to the M3, the Cayman was incredibly responsive, amazing feedback feel and driving the car on the edge of traction was way easier than the M. It feels almost as fast in anything other than extended straight line driving. I guarantee it would be quicker at the track I go to.

The thing is, I want the GT3. Bad. It's 93K. I really like the versatility of the M, but the P cars are unequaled. My car felt like a lincoln after driving the Cayman.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should sell my car and save for a year or so to get the GT3, keep my car and be happy or jump to the Cayman.

Any thoughts? Anyone able to talk me off the ledge?

Probably a good idea. The R is REALLY amazing though.

Why not? Have you driven them? Are they for dudes with tiny shoes?

P's are great cars but unfortunately where i live it's filled with P cars driven by women who haven't got a clue what they're doing, however the M3 drivers I have come across are usually blokes and enthusiasts...

Go for the GT3..

With the new Cayman models coming out soon you might be better off checking the new Boxster. Think of it as a Cayman convertible if you will. There will always be GT3s' for sale so no need to go over your head on this one.

Looks like the GT3 has PCCB and a roll cage. Just get a larger loan and get the GT3 now. If you can get that thing for $90k you'd be in great shape.

If you want the GT3 don't settle for the Cayman because you'll regret it down the road. Definitely a tough decision between keeping the M or getting a GT3 because the M is a great "all around" car whereas the GT3 is so "extreme" - good luck

I think that Orange and Black beast is calling you - if not this GT3-RS you'll find another one at some point. Nothing against the Cayman new or old - it just the GT3-RS is just....... - well a GT3-RS

the M3 versitility is much valued by me. Though I will agree that the Cayman R and the GT3RS will deliver the best driving/track experience, I would hate it for a daily driver.

Maybe, you can sell the M3, buy a very cheap commuter car and then go for the P car.

Sounds like Long Island, NY. I've definitely noticed that around here. Of the three or four 50yo ladies I seem to see driving Carrera S's around here on a daily basis, I can't believe they're all hardcore sportscar nuts. They should just get a Mercedes SL550 and be done with it. Yet another reason to get a GT3 if you're going the 911 route--it's track-ready and you separate yourself from the crowd of posers.
