Cyba Scoops installed!

Had these laying around for awhile. Decided to add them tonight when I got home from 2 months of working in NYC straight. Fitment was 9.5/10. Added the gloss black performance kidney grills while I was at it.

Sweet. I have a different brand on mine. Although the way the air flows to the airbox, i don't think it can truly be called "ram air". Not like I had on my R1 where the air was forced directly to the engine. In the M3, it basically forces air over to the filter but not really directly into the pipe if you get what i mean.

Idk if its a placebo effect, but it sounds like something is whirring (in a cool way) as I am driving. Also, it was 36 degrees last night so the car felt much faster, but I know that's because it was colder.

But, I am happy with the fact that it looks cool and sinister.

Mike, I purchase MS ones; however mine are black. Up to this point, I am still wondering if they add anything.

I have Rpi scoops. They look nice but I don't think they do much.

If they do its marginal. They don't cost anything so who cares really?

I have the MS scoops installed and it's definitely good for at least 50-60 hp...he he. I can really feel the difference when I drive off a cliff...the air flow is tremendous.

i wonder how much of the air that gets "scooped" in just gets blown out of the hood vent for the intake.

I think the MS Scoops is the best 'shaped' option out there.

I think anyone who understand the basics of these cars, knows that this is the biggest marketing gimmick since marketing gimmicks..I respect people who install them for the "look" but anyone thinking it makes one shred of difference in performance is totally out of touch.

The M3 is already porting cool air from 3 locations, the lower front bumper, behind the kidney grills and the driver's hood vent..I suspect these could even add turbulence that would disrupt the normal air flow..either way ..they dont add any performance.

yeah, it's for aesthetic purposes. I have M5 scoops installed on my 'single sided' 550i, just for looks, its useless.

RPi claims a 6-10whp gain.
Quote:
RPi's Ram Air Scoops converts your factory intake system into a ram air type. Other aftermarket induction kits mostly suck in hot air causing a loss of performance. The use of heatshields are not very affective as heat shields mainly work to block radiant heat. Utilizing the stock intake box, our ram air scoops push outside air into the stock air box, providing improved airflow to the well designed OEM intake system. Expect a 6-10whp gain (Dyno Dynamics w/ Patterson 13kcfm fan at 8ft, 2.5degree fan angle on 2011 M3).
