R8 for me. I don't like the looks of the i8 at all. Inside and out. I sat in one at two different dealerships. Both times I could not rid the feeling of Disney and the monorail train. It's trying too hard to be the 'vision of the future'.

If I were given an i8 I would sell it to buy an r8. That is how much I dislike it.

No contest here, definitely the R8 hands down, and a poll of the i8 vs. the new NSX would've been more appropriate.

Agreed. Would extend that to any 991 that is an S model or up. No comparison.

If I had to choose. R8. Nothing bmw makes or ever has made and likely anything it ever will doesn't compare to the driving pleasure of the r8.

I8 is a hideous car in person. Even worse than the design mess it is in pics. Interior doesn't feel becoming of a 75k car let alone what they sell for.

these both are "affordable" super cars (in looks at least), so i do see people cross shopping them. it's the person who is tired of seeing 911s all over the place where they live and want to get something a bit different.

the v10 plus is a beast and had my vote.

the i8 is a neat car though... my wife would like one of each.

I'm with you here. Have been a fan of the R8 since release, but the new very-stiff-square design is just not good!

I think Clarkson kind of nailed it when he talked about a lot of super cars being the good cars of today, and the i8 the car of tomorrow.

I would LOVE driving both but would go with the i8 - it's just a killer

There is a promotional video of a new red R8. It looks really good.

I've been inside an R8, and I can tell you that for the money I would definitely go with Audi in a heartbeat.

The R8 is truly in the class of supercar. I'm not quite sure I can put the i8 in that same class.

Each to their own I guess. I have seen the i8 and the previous gen R8 (V8 and V10+) in person. I actually found the i8 to be less appealing than it is in photos, whereas the R8 was the other way around (absolutely gorgeous and stunning). The only things I don’t like about the R8 are the interior design and the AWD. The new R8’s interior looks better now IMO, but they still need to get rid of that hideous steering wheel…

I would take that Audi v-10 over the hybrid i8 technology anyday.
Long-live the internal combustion engine.
However if the i8 could match the Audi in performance and do it with just electric power and have a range of 500km reliably,it may be on my radar, sadly this is like asking for world peace.....not going to happen!

i8. R8 mkII is ugly and boring, not even out and already looks outdated, unlike R8 mkI which looks good, different than other supercars and timeless.

Also: NSX mkII > R8 mkII
