And yup, leaving early Saturday morning. Racing against JetBlue flight 280 leaving at 8:53 a.m. and arriving at 9:57 a.m.

It worked out okay. Chick I met in cabo then went back and spent a weekend with her and went to an eagles concert. She saw what I pee with repeatedly.

Well, this isn't much but I was messing around last night with a few shots and some graphics for the video. I'm going to apologize in advance because instead of having my 2 friends shoot this with me (one is a director of photography, and they other has had a production company since college - their schedules didn't allow them to come this weekend), I now have 2 guys who have never used a video camera before shooting for me! Either way, here's a little graphic I've come up with so far for the video and I'm sure it'll come out ok. If it turns out to be a fun project we'll do it or something like it again with better production:

Sorry for the delay guys... Jumped right in when we got to Vegas and just hadn't had time until now. And no, I'm not in jail!

So the bad news... I lost. By only about 15 minutes, but still, I lost.
The good news, there's a really good chance that I'd have won if it weren't for the following...
Things under my control:
  • My girlfriend dragged ass getting out of the house and I didn't want to "cheat" and leave before her, even though her car was waiting downstairs for 10 minutes
  • I upgraded my girlfriend and friend to the extra leg room seats on Jet Blue not thinking that they'd be getting off the plane first AND get their bags to come out first. I'd say that subtracted 5-10 minutes off their trip.
Things not under my control (this stuff was obviously part of the trip, so I can't really use it as an excuse):
  • I hit 3 pockets of traffic along the way that made us creep at 60mph for 20+ minutes each.
  • We counted 12 speed traps along the way, so even though we had Trapster, Waze and a radar detector, we still played it somewhat cool throughout the trip.
Here's the basic breakdown, I'll go through my notes when I'm making the video and provide the real data.

Total Distance Traveled: 272 miles
Total Time: 3h 31m
Average Speed: 77mph (door to door)
Top Speed: Let's call it the top of 5th gear

Departure Time: 7:30
My Arrival Time: 11:01
Her Arrival Time: 10:46

So I lost, by ~15 minutes. Had I left when the car got there, and had they not had their bags come out first, I'd say we'd have been neck and neck, even given the traffic and speed traps in our route. Either way it was a ton of fun!

Yeah man, that was a good first "reconnaissance lap."

The graphics look great, can't wait to see the video!

Kudos for taking on this project

I've been thinking of doing something. Glad it worked out and +/115 minutes is pretty awesome
