Exclamation Laser Jammers & Clear Bra

Who's getting a laser jammer installed? & Clear Bra?

I'm probably getting the K40 front and rear protection...as well as the Clear Bra to protect my front end including mirrors...

Protection a good idea ...

I'm in the process of having the clear protection on the front end, extends to part of the front wheel wells, and mirrors, and a paint protection (applied by hand apparently) on my "new" (pre-owned) 2004 M3 Cab (pick it up Tuesday). I think it money well spent, to keep the car as it was meant to be (and resale too).

My wife suggested I get a pre-owned M3 to, as she put "live my dream" instead of goin' nuts waiting for my 2008 M3 with a probable delivery date in 2009. I had expected the M3 to be an extension of my 330ci but during the test drive I found out this is not the case, it really is a different car. When does the excitement die down so I can sleep again at night?

I have been checking into a laser jammer/radar detector but getting mixed reviews. I had one in 2001 and it "talked" all the time in the city (it had city and highway modes - installed by BMW) and didn't stop me from getting tickets on the highway. Has the technology improved? Any thoughts on a model and portable vs. installed?

Just to be clear I'm not talking about a radar detector (like V1 which I highly recommend) but a laser Jammer...http://www.k40.com/ do some research on this site and you'll see what I'm talking about...these also incorporate radar detectors into them btw

I think clear bra looks awful. I don't mind it on the bumper if it's installed in such a way that you can't see it, but half way up the hood and fenders. No thanks.

As for the K40, it's a POS (the laser jamming portion may not be bad, but the radar detection portion is AWFUL).

If you need something that's installed and provides laser jamming, go for a setup from Passport. If stealth style install is not neccessary then go for a V1 with the Passport Laser Jammer.

Those 'bra' hings on American cars are very, very odd. So many pictures I've seen on the net have been ruined by them. Don't you have special paint coatings that do the same thing, like we have here in the UK?

Must agree with my fellow Brit. Did you mean something like Autoglym? I don't know if that's exactly like the American 'clearbra' things.

There's a company in the back of Autocar who advertise a covering that resists stone chips, which is what the car bra's do, right?

I never installed a jammer on my current E46 M3, but I would highly consider one when I get my E92. Some say Lidatek is very good, also. Rear protection is probably not a necessity--never seen the rear being targeted.

So is everyone begininng to stop using the Passport and V1s? Passport just came out with a new one which seems incredible, the 9500i. It's $449.95...check it out and let me know if this is the best one to get as of now cause I have never used one and veyr much looking to get one when I purchase the M3.

As long as radar speed measuring is still in use they will be necessary. Personally, I believe the directional arrows on the V1 are a huge advantage.

I started this thread before I went away & I completely forgot about it so now back to the topic at hand::::

Clear Bra helps prevent stone chips on the front bumper as well has a portion of the hood (if you get it installed that high) you can also get it on your mirrors & side fenders too...A couple of my buddy's from the M5board have had them installed & I think the most noticeable color is on white cars & even then you have to know what your looking for to see it IMHO b/c you can see a line across the hood but like I said you have to be looking for it & just the added benefit of not getting stone chips is worth it...

Lidetek, Blinder, K40 laser jammers from what I've heard from most of the people I know that have them installed is that they work & has saved there arses a couple of times, plus having the added benefit of using a V1 installed inconjunction w/ the jammer so its discrete is a must also...I'm 100% positive that this is going to be my first mod and just wanted to know if others were planing the same...

I read it & thats a horrible thing to had happen...who ever installed it did a bad job point blank....like I said buddy of mine got it installed by his dealer and it is clean and flawles so I may even use his dealer & not the one I'm buying from... I can't wait I just want all the added protection I can get...I've done a couple of driving meets w/ the M5boys from m5board and I'm usually the lead car since I know the twisty routes so this is also an added benefit to save there arse's as well as mine too

Bra - No. I think they look uglier than stone chips. I'd rather (and have) repainted my noses on several occasions
Radar/laser detector - Still love the V1. The arrows are great
Laser jammer - Lidatek. I have Lidetak in two cars and they work great, never gotten a laser ticket. If I can figure out where to get power I'll have one in my E90 330xi as well and later the E92 M3. If anybody can help, see this thread

I plan on getting one of the Radar/Laser Detectors when I get the M...so you all rather stick with the V1 then getting the new Passport 9500i?

I just want to make sure which is more supreme cause we all know we'll be pretty quick drivers on the road, haha!

Stick with the V1 but remember once a cop strikes you with laser your caught so just pull over for him, that's why I want the laser jammer b/c more & more cops are using Laser's (when they're stationary) instead of Radar (moving)

Escort SR7 - Plus

Just one more opinion.

I just bought an Escort SR7 - Plus. This unit, while expensive, appears to be a solid piece of technology with a minimal visible footprint. It can be moved from car to car, with some labor costs.
When I have some time with it I'll give you another more informed opinion.

Info? If you don't live in the US and get a speeding ticket, do you just pay it to the officer who is issuing it or is it more complicated than this. Are these tickets reported to other jurisdictions with "points" and points accumulated?
Anyone out there know anything about this?

I also had a clear bra put on my M3 by my BMW dealer and it is almost invisible on carbon black.

Happy drivin' & keep friendly on this forum.

what your wife said was woman code for:
"honey, do us both a favor and buy the less expensive car."

i know this because i bought the woman-speak decoder ring from mad magazine, its a marvel in communications technology. had you also been able to decode her speak, you could have placed her in strategic checkmate by responding: "but dont you want the best for me honey?"
