Well you can have the ipod in the left screen and the nav in the right screen if you do it without the plugin. Now if you're talking about videos then that would be a different story. I have yet to view a video in the car.

You can still have Nav on the left, and Entertainment details (i.e. iPod info) on the right, while using the Plugin. Or, am I not understanding what you want to do?

The plugin is the pics that you posted earlier correct? If so, they don't allow anything else on the screen at the same time.

Yes and no. You can't have that exact screen split with something else, but if you press Menu->Nav->Split Screen content, you can have Nav as your primary screen, and all your iPod details on the left. Won't have album art, but album/artist/title.

Basically, I don't see any downside to the cradle, and the improved iPod interface for selecting Album/Artist/Genius is two steps beyond the standard interface.

Well I am crossing my fingers that the software update will help with my issues.

No better after the update. Might actually be worse. Kept getting the error that the device wasn't being recognized. Just upsetting me more. It just doesn't want to work right. I couldn't even get it to connect to do Apps. I kept taking the phone out and snapping the cradle in and out but to no avail.

I can use Pandora via BT, but obviously some of the screen images and functionality are missing.

After getting the runaround at Shelly concerning the warranty on the cradle, I decided to throw this out there one more time to make sure that I am not the one making the mistake with this thing.

I know it was mentioned previously, but some mentioned an order as to making the Apps/Pandora work correctly. Is this true?

Normally I would just have the iPhone in the cradle and then try to start either Apps or Pandora. Both will just continually say "connecting" on the phone screen forever but nothing happens on the iDrive. Only 1/10 times does it actually connect and work. iPhone has the most updated software and I just updated all the software on car.

What do you mean, exactly? Your car has the $250 BMW Apps option, right?

Yes since it works sometimes (plus car was ordered with Apps).

You can try my cradle to test.

Thanks Terry.

Just trying to make sure that I am not the reason why it's not working. Phone charges so I know it works at least somewhat. I just want to make sure that there is no specific order to activating the apps or making it work. I wanna rule out "user error".

Well sent my cradle today for warranty. We'll see what they have to say.

Ok, new cradle, old results. At this point I think it's the car. I got Pandora to work for half a song before it disconnected. When I run the diagnostic that the BMW Connected app has for the cradle, I consistently get an error that it cannot connect. Not sure what else I should/can do. Is it possible something is coded wrong on the car?

I'd take the car into the dealer for warranty service.

It's either -

The baseplate.
The combox
Or the wiring between combox and baseplate.

I personally would replace the combox.

I guess a trip to the dealer will be in order at some point.

Can a combox be swapped without coding involved? I would assume not.

Sounds like a good way to take a bad situation, and make it miserable. Let the dealer sort it out...

Yeah I hear you. I just only like utilizing the dealer as a last resort.

Is your iPhone from AT&T?

If so try either:

- plug your iPhone while it is 100% charged
- restore completely your iPhone via iTunes.
- another iPhone

I have seen this issue with AT&T iPhones and the Combox while using the baseplate USB port via the cradle. It is a current draw issue that forces the iPhone to connect/disconnect.

There should not be any problem with the standard USB port. If so then most probably the Combox is acting up.

Yes, it is an AT&T version. Since the cradle will charge the phone, at some point the phone will be at 100% charge.

I will try restoring the phone to see if that makes any difference.
