I've not seen boiling points given for CHF11S or the newer CHF202 (which supersedes 11S).

That being said, I've never had a problem with the 11S or 202 boiling over at the track.

bringing back old thread, does anybody know if the system self bleeds any air out ? or is there a process? I recently changed mine and I can hear a noise when i turn the wheel all the way to either side. I was thinking maybe caught some air in the system.

Me too bringing back an old thread. I had the same issue as the OP and was low on power steering fluid. Added some to top off and the noise went away. My whining sound would come when turning left hard and last night I turned left hard and the sound stayed for a while even when parked or going straight. Today topped off power steering fluid, went for a drive and made hard right/left turns and no sound!

Just wanted to update everyone, hope it helps!

I hear a sound too when turning the wheel ALL the way but it goes away once you release it just a bit from max wheel turn. Hope this helps, not sure how loud your sound is?

I want to flush and refill on ps fluid, however, i see two types of ch11s, one is ch11s synthetic and one is just ch11s. I cannot find any differentiation on any of the forums. Anyone know which is correct for e9x m3, ch11s or ch11s synthetic?

My 06/08 build '08 has CHF-11S prominently displayed in green, so no doubt . Bought some because level was a bit low, and dealer never topped it off because it was between marks. But what a PITA with that stupid cap with a tube in the can; made a mess when the stupid thing gulped air, throwing fluid everywhere . Next time will pour it into a container, then into the reservoir.
Sorry to revive this old thread, i own a 2011 e90 m3 and want to replace power steering fluid but im not sure what fluid i need, the resevoir cap only says ATF, im not sure if i can just put any hydraulic steering / atf fluid in it or if i should replace it with chf 11s. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any reason a siphon would remove more fluid than a baster? Someone said that there's a screen at the bottom of the reservoir so I wouldn't be able to slide the siphon's tubing down past the bottom, is that correct?

edit, just did this for the first time (I don't know if it was done while under warranty). I'll say that for those with old power steering fluid, basting out old fluid and replacing with new and then cycling the wheel a bunch (repeat until 1l bottle is empty) may not result in fluid that's as clean as one might like. However I'd think that this procedure would work fine with a 1L bottle if you've changed the fluid once in a while or so.

There does appear to be a strainer at the bottom so I don't know if a siphon would work, although given the option I;d rather do a full flush than in incremental replacement.
