I had a similar thought, I've had a v1 for years and swear by it but I've never sent it in for any updates. After researching whats best right now, the R3 seems great but I know I would HATE not having arrows. Its only a matter of time though since the valentine patent on arrows has recently expired.
Escort Max 360 has arrows already.

They need a Uniden R4 that has arrows, would smoke all the competition.

Another vote for the Valentine V1 (with latest firmware). Recently did LA to Lake Tahoe on the 395, 8-9 hour drive and saved me thousands of $. Was able to spot pesky local cops hiding in middle of interstate up to 2 miles away with ease.

Interested in hearing recommendations on front laser jammers (only 2 front jammers are legal in CA I believe?)

AL Priority is your best bet. Great range and covers the most different types of laser guns.

For those that use a V1, I highly recommend V1Driver (you'll need the Bluetooth dongle from V1 as well).

All the bells and whistles like auto GPS Lockout are in there. After about a week with V1Driver, the V1 is quiet as a church mouse.

Any ideas around how much AL Priority would be to get the jammers and installed?

Best Radar Detector for a M3?

Previous V1 owner, switched to an Escort Max 2. Max2 is the same internals as the Max 360 without the arrows and the rear arrow. I initially missed the directional arrows, but soon forgot about them. I paired with the phone app, and pay the subscription which gives me waze-like updates. On long trips, I have 2 phones active -- one on Waze and one on Escort's app.

Escort's subscription, on a major highway like i-80 is nice. I know I'm taking a risk, but I turned off X and K band, and now every time it goes off there's a cop around. I got tired of how chatty the V1 was. Now I actually hit the brakes. The range on the max 2 is very long. Plenty of time to slow down without hitting the brakes.

V1 in all my previous cars and current E90
Any radar detector is a bit annoying on daily basis when you have the volume on, not one particular one is "pleasing" to listen...
V1 is simple + reliable. I have the volume turned off, hardwired and mounted right on top of rear view mirror. It's slightly in my vision while driving so I can see it flashing once it detects something. No need for alarm/volume on.
I cleared some signals in presetting to avoid silly building doors and especially the Volvo sensors lol

I would only be wildly guessing. My install was done with a bunch of other work and it was a few years ago so not sure how much the jammer alone would have been. It also depends on if you want a basic install or more custom work. I had the control panel for the jammer custom built into my ashtray so I'm sure that added to the cost.

Most of the radar detectors claim they detect laser but in real world they are almost useless against laser. You may get the rare occasional laser alert but with laser they already have your speed by that point.

I have a K40 RL360 with updated firmware. It works well, has front and rear radar (x band turned off), laser jammers with pulse enabled so it will jam for the first few seconds and then stop jamming so police wont suspect a jammer and it allows you time to slow down.
Having it completely concealed is a bonus because it can't be swiped by a passerby as its parked and police don't know that you have it.
False alarms are the bane of all detectors but the new k band filters do help. With that said, I have a concealed mute switch that is actually very cool. It resides just under the trim (location is up to you) and it senses your finger so that you can mute without looking down. I have it located in the center console just left of the shifter in an easy position to tap when I want to mute.
The other useful feature of the k40 is that you can program silence below certain speeds. I have mine so that it doesn't alert st speeds below 30 mph, very helpful in city driving.
A comment about Waze ... if you use waze and almost any detector it will give you licence to speed. I've racked up about 3k road trip miles in the last couple of months and the combo is unreal. 20 to 30+ over is easy to do if your careful and respectful of other traffic ... ie stay in right lane and slow down to pass.
Waze can help with red light cameras, road hazards and help you stay alert when driving as it engages you to help others with dangers that are out there such as stalled vehicles on the side of the road etc. I think auto manufacturers should make it an option on their nav systems for safety reasons.

I tried updating firmware in my 9500iX yesterday using Escort Live and ran into some issues. The process froze on "update #3". I ultimately had to reset the unit to factory spec and am not sure if the functionality has been affected. Will see how things go this week...

Since I have the M and a daily driver (for winter), I just ordered a Uniden R3 as a dedicated unit for the BMW. The R3 doesn't have the arrows but the reviews across various websites were uniformly excellent.

When I had my e92 I had the V1 mounted next to my Rear view mirror. With the m4 I have my V1 mounted next to the rear view mirror and my laser jammers installed in the kidney grills and some mounted on the rear.
