Any official date on the sedan release?

I'm reading about a spring release, anything official?

Coupe and convertible will be released at the same time in the US - Spring '08. I think the sedan might come in the Fall of 2008.

And I think the M3 sedan is going to steal M5 sales unless BMW gets the M-DCT on the M5. No one is going to want SMG anymore -- old technology now!

The two normaly good informed german Car-magazins "autozeitung" and "auto motor sport" has corrected the release date of the sedan to as early as between End of 2007 and March 2008 and stated both that the sedan was released before the convertible...seems to be europian release...

I think the transmission will have a lot less effect on people choosing the M3 sedan over the M5 that the fact that the M3 will simply be a more fun and tossable car. The DCT will just be gravy.

The vert and coupe should come out at the same time. The sedan might be released 4th quater of 2008, and at most early 2009, theres no way they will wait to 2010 to release the coupe.

Talk with my BMW-dealer today.
He told me that the release of the sedan was no later than 1th quarter of 2008. I could place an deposit yet to become the frist M3 sedan owner in the south of Hamburg.
Early requests for an deposit for an M3 sedan were negativ. So I think there is not to long time until the sedan release. I will place my deposit tomorow.:rocks:

Fixed.

But yeah, I agree. I think we will see E92 and E93 in March 2008 as MY2008 models and E90 in September 2008 as an MY2009. That's where my money is.

Now, anyone want to guess when the oft-rumored E91 M3 might arrive? Of course, regardless, for the US the answers is as always with BMW - "never".

Yea, i see a very slim chance. I read somewhere that they might introduce a E61 M5 for US? Not sure how accurate that is, but if it is true and sales go well then it might affect the decision for a E31 M3. But again i highly dout it.

Fixed. LOL - I am justing messing with ya.

But yeah, especially since the US doesn't even get the E91 335i/xi, E61 535i (xi only!), and E61 550i.

And faster won't hurt much either (for most lower speed contests and on most tracks). That being said the szie, raw power and luxury of the M5 should still be a decent draw for those looking in this market.

New rumor is that the M5 will be getting a power bump to 575 HP and M-DCT , probably for the 2009 model year. Damn, I may have to go AWOL from the M3 camp... !

(575/507) * 420 = 476. If this bump is possible for the M5 then 475 should be completely possible for the M3 V8, being almost identical engines. Great news for the CSL as well.

I am betting that it will either be cheaper or exactly the same. Comparably equipped, the E90 and E92 335i are very close in price. E92 has a higher MSRP but also comes stock with the sport suspension and fold down rear seats. If you throw the sport package and fold down rear seats on both cars, the MSRP is pretty damn close.

My guess is a bit cheaper. No carbon/plastic roof on the sedan and the e90 is a bit cheaper than the e92.

Yeah, there's some pics of a TT M5 prototype floating around- 575HP!

Imagine that!.........

Still, I think the M3 sedan is a better looking car than the M5....IMHO....

I prefer the looks of the M5 over the M3. The 5 has a more elegant/refined look. Unlike the 5, I have some issues with the 3's bubble hood and extruding "chimney-like" tail pipes that are positioned too close toward the center of the rear deck.

If they get 575 hp in the new M5 with a TT then my post above about what that means for the M3 is (obviously) completely off base.

I read one thing about it being a TT too, but another source said it will be normally-aspirated. Either way, more HP is always welcome....
