Windshield Woes

So driving along the lovely I-5N I was merging to the exit lane when a rock comes smashing into my windshield from a Robertson's Concrete semi hauling two open trailers. This is especially awesome because I just had my windshield tinted last week. Can anyone assist on the process for going after the company or is it a lost cause? Had the car for two months and this is the first blemish so it's cutting pretty deep.

Take a look:

Damn, sorry to hear. I know what that first blemish feels like. I had a run in with a rock on my ED, and I wasn't happy at all about it.

Unfortunately I don't think there's much you can do as far as the construction company taking liability. I guess it's worth a try, but I don't forsee anything coming out of it. I would take the car to a auto glass place and see if they can polish it down or fill it in to make it less noticeable. Good luck.

Many insurance companies can fix small chips and cracks without having to replace the windshield, and often times they do it for free. It's much easier for them to fix it than to replace it. I had this done on a car before and couldn't tell anything ever happened.

This is not true. Robertsons, ESPECIALLY, has a department that pays out claims to drivers on the road that take damage from one of their trucks. U are lucky u got whacked by them instead of some other cos. If u took down the plate number of the truck, u can call their customer service hotline and they will pay 100% of the repair cost. I have had two claims paid out by them over the last 10 years. They are VERY good about making it right.

Wipe it off and see what the actual damage is. It can be sealed to prevent further damage and can still be used and be barely noticable.

Indeed you are correct, I left my address on an automated voicemail and it said claim forms go out on Fridays so hopefully I'll see it next week. I whiped it down and it's not too bad, just a couple small chunks of glass missing, but it is in my direct line of sight. Hopefully they can repair it well enough. to Robertson's if they come through. Will update with the results.

You need this:

http://www.clearplex.com/

I have it on my M and it has already saved my windshield plenty!
