Fabspeed/Gintani Full Exhaust Install & Review
Over the weekend I had a new exhaust system installed on my vehicle, Fabspeed hfc's/resonated x-pipe and the Gintani rear section. Let me start by saying I have only received positive comments about how nice the car sounds. I did not do any dyno runs as this write up is about the esthetics and sound of the exhaust not power gains. So here are my initial impressions of my new exhaust setup, along with a short video and some pictures. The welds on both systems is of high quality and the tips fill the rear bumper very well in addition there were no fitment issues what so ever and the install went very smoothly. At initial start up I was thrown back by how deep the system sounded it was almost scary for a second I thought to myself "can I really drive this car all the time ?". Then I got in and realized it wasn't bad at all, as I proceeded to pull out of the lot and drive down the road the car roared down the city streets bellowing off of houses, setting car alarms off and waking up babies. Just the way I like my exhaust systems and although the vehicle is loud from the outside it is fairly quite in the cabin (except at wot, haha when I'm on the phone people ask me if I'm on a plane). The drone is only prevalent between 2500-2800 rpm and at cruising speed on the highway it is nonexistent. So over all I'm extremely pleased with my new setup and would recommend it to anyone looking to increase the volume of their vehicle, this is all obviously my personal preference and others may feel my setup is overbearing. With that said my last vehicle was a e46 M3 with Supersprint headers, test pipes,non-resonated x-pipe and race mufflers which was perfect for me. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures and my review. I'd also like to say that Taylor from Ape performance and Alex from Gintani were a great deal of help and are great guys to work with, and for anyone in the tri-state area Bill from the Bimmer Clinic is also a stand up guy who knows his cars and really do a thorough job.

This sounds like a great setup.
So you're not planning to do any dyno runs at all? Aren't you curious to see what kind of power it makes now?

I just ordered Fabspeed HFC's and resonated x-pipe today as well. Thanks Taylor at APEPerformance; great service and nice price. I have already done a baseline dyno with just my Eisenmann Race and AFE filter. I will also do a post dyno after the Fabspeed stuff gets installed. I am just trying to decide if I should buy the Eisenmann connecting pipes or just leave the stock ones; not sure if there will be a difference in flow and therefore power. Anyone have any comments on this?

Then I would say that you would have the same opinion in person. They are large and those pictures should give you some what of a good idea. That is really a matter of preference, I personaly like large aggressive looking tips. |

Do you think you can post some sound clips after you get it? That's the exact setup I want but I'm just holding off a bit. Your clips/dyno would definitely speed up that process You can PM me if you want man!

Sounds sick Ash. Drop me a PM I gotta hear this setup IRL. I had the same thought the first time I started the car up, but after the drive home I loved the sound.
At least I held the NJ Gintani Title for a couple of weeks

Thanks ! No lights at all and I do not have a flash. If you wanna check it out in person shoot me a pm .
Thank You I will, I was waiting for you to comment on the thread I took that dead on rear shot just for you ! I'll be around this weekend just let me know when you want to meet up. It's funny we both have Gintani exhaust systems and we will both have RAC's and we live 10 min away from eachother. Prob the only 2 in NJ with the same set up. ha ha Thank god your car is SG and I'm AW or it would be real ridiculous. I'll PM you my cell number. |
