I used to use an outdoor car cover to protect my car when I let it sit for a few days but over time I noticed that it created fine scratches, especially on the front and rear bumper when pulling the cover over those sections, so I gave up on the car covers. Instead I just detail my car a couple times a year and make sure you protect the detail with a nice layer of sealant and wax and wash it regularily using the proper wash method.

Car cover = scratches
The fabric of the car cover will pick up abrasive dirt which will damage your paint every time it moves in the wind or you take it on or off. Don't do it.
