If 2011 M3s do not come with Run Flats why is their not a spare?
I was told by my dealer that my car came with run flats. I know this is not true after finding out on those board, but if that's really the case, why don't we have a spare tire with the car?

So if that the case then what happens when I get a flat? Do most m3 drivers carry a spare, including u?
Are the tires that come with the car today reliable? When I had a 325xi in 2004 , with regular tires, I had about 3 flats in one year. Wheels where so sensitive. |

Ughh well if u had read my other posts u would know that I do not have the assist "button". Do you think it would be harder for the assist folks to get to me without the assist button, by calling them from my phone in case of a flat tire?

Not sure about MY2011, but my '09 came with the M Mobility Kit. That's the only DIY for a flat, other than carrying a jack and a spare in your trunk....

M3's haven't had a spare tire since 99 production year and they haven't had run flats either. You get roadside assistance and a mobility kit. There are spare tire solutions you can purchase aftermarket...

i was told be sale person that 2011 are coming with run flats and the all other m's b4 did'nt.the reason for no spare is because if you do start to lose air in any of the tires the car will notify you. Then you will still be able to drive for another 150 miles with the run flats until you can get them fixed.these tires are not suppose to blow out they are steel belted on the side wall of the tire to prevent any blow outs.

Many SA's Know What They Are Talking About...
Quote:
Double Spoke (Style 219M) Satin Chrome finish M light alloy wheels, 18 x 8.5 front, 18 x 9.5 rear; 245/40 front and 265/40 rear performance tires (1) (1) Due to low-profile tires, please note: wheels, tires and suspension parts are more susceptible to road hazard and consequential damages. Performance tires are not recommended for driving in snow and ice. Please note: M3 models are not equipped with a spare tire and wheel. They include M Mobility System, which offers lifetime BMW Roadside Assistance for tire assistance. The tires being supplied on 2011 M3's are not run flats. There are many circumstances where your tires can be damaged and lose air very quickly.

No runflats. You either use the fix-a-flat crap that's in the trunk, or the cell phone. I don't know if BMW has gone to direct TPMS, with physical pressure sensors in each wheel, or, if they still use an indirect system that monitors rotation through the ABS system. If actual pressure sensors are now used, then the fix-a-flat goo (the M Mobility System) will probably ruin the sensor, and may not make the tire driveable either, depending on the type of damage.

ok so the sensor will tell u if its leaking, but if happen to smash into a pothole n crack the tire n rim... u r dead straight away. it has happened before & luckily we had a spare wheel n the boot, eg. the ford focus ST has a full spare in boot.
so the TPMS cant solve every situation. if volkswagen can put a full spare into their golf gtis, y cldnt BMW do same for M3? i know its coz of the xos design but still they shld have designed to fit a full spare to begin with. |
