You'll end up hating the Corvette interor. I don't like how american mussle cars all have plasticy dashes.

Less than 8,000$ and you'll be doing low 10 second traps even if you have the tiptronic version of the 996 Turbo.

For the vividracing kit, you will need to add:
5 Bar FPR ( + $125.00 )
Softronic ECU Flash w/Cable ( + $1,995.00 )

http://www.softronictuning.com/clien...8g-goes-10-96/
That's for the vividracing kit, on K24/18G with softronic ECU flash.

You realize that dropping $8k on a Vette goes a long way too...right?

hey op, maybe up your budget a bit and get a c6 z06. I would get that over any porsche at that price range. trust me, once you start driving, the quality of the dash just doesn't matter anymore. it's not like you have to feel the freaking dash every single time you jump in drive

I'm thinking of getting a black c6 z06 myself. the true bat mobile, haha

My order of preference would be 997>C6>996. Hell I should cross 996 off.

True but I hate the styling of the corvette. Not to mention the horrible ergonomic dash and interior design. I'm not going to drive a fully done up Corvette with straight pipes to a business meeting. And if your in your mid twenties driving a vette.. eh... =\

Who said anything about straight pipes? Twin turbo Vettes aren't loud at all, at least not until you plant your foot on the LOL pedal. The ergonomics of the interior are just fine for a two seater. Everything's within easy reach and the heads up display is awsome when you're running the car hard. The materials aren't top notch, but you can't have it all.

You seem to be much more worried about what other people think than actually enjoying the performance that's offered. If we're talking about modifications, dollar for dollar you'll never keep up with a Vette in a 911. Stuff's just too damn expensive for them. And if you break something major like a crank or transmission....get ready to write some heavy checks.

seems pretty typical for this board, more about fashion and form than function.

then again it seems that 75% of this board is from Jersey or SoCal, thats pretty fitting.

I'll admit it, dollar for dollar the Vette wins overall in performance, but I would still pay that extra premium for the 911 Turbo, just cause I am attracted to the styling more. And it's not like the 911 Turbo is slow or anything. It is damn good on the track and as a daily driver. I can't see myself driving a Corvette in the snow. Sorry.

It's pretty obveous, everyone want's their girlfriend to have a pretty face.
I'm not going to settle for some butterface with tits and a ass.

A 911 Turbo is going to be twice the price. For that kind of money you're into a Z06, and you'll slaughter it. Buying any of these cars with intentions of getting around in the snow in them doesn't make any sense.

Go with the Porche, it is a much more refined vehicle.

Also, you're more likely to die in the Vette.

How would I be more likely to die in the 'Vette then the Porsche? By driving like an idiot?

If budget were not an issue I would go for a 997tt but since money is an issue, I'm not sure I myself can justify spending it on a 911 which, bang for the buck, I feel the corvette is an overall better deal. this is assuming I enjoy driving the Vette) Interior quality is not a major issue for me, and "image" means nothing to me.

I'm sure i could die driving my BMW or a porsche as well if I was stupid, so that makes no sense to me.

There's a reason Corvettes always seem to warm the hears of car magazine writers everywhere. It's the supercar for the masses. The Corvette coupe runs with sports cars costing twice as much, on street, strip, or track.

I'm from SoCal and you're right on the money. People here are such twats about what they drive. Almost everybody I know w/ a German car is a total dourchebag (or needs one).

OP: C6 will be the best bang for the buck. A real car enthusiast knows that they're insanely fast for the price. Don't even think about the 996 (assuming non-turbo) and the ugly styling, in and out. If you can get into a 997, go for it.

Maybe it's just that your friends are douchebags.

On the other hand, I see what appears to be douchebags driving German cars. And Italian cars and British cars, too. Oh, and a lot of 'em cruise around in American made cars (uh, can you say 'PT Cruiser?') And then there's those Japanese cars (what do they call them? Lexus or something?) They're even on bicycles wearing bright colored circus tights. And walking, too, across the street against the light on their cell phones.
