Just to give you a sense of CA pricing, I just switched from Virginia to CA (SF Bay area). Same insurer, same coverage, same everything, my premiums jumped 2.5x!
Which highlights why these threads are meaningless. Without real details on location (actual zip codes), income, credit score and actual coverage amounts (not just "max") among other factors, there is no real way to compare insurance rates...

I live in Orleans parish, go three miles as the crow flies to Jefferson parish and I would likely pay 30%-40% less for liability coverage alone. And liability is the biggest cost in insurance, not the actual cost to repair the car.
Look at Ken all stirring the pot and shit;-) how are you?

Before starting more worthless threads, that would be great.

Basically it's just enforcing low miles. Some insurance companies will periodically audit the miles. Others will use it as a lever to deny you coverage if you total your car and the adjuster checks the odometer and you are way over the miles you should be at.

But check how your policy is written. Insurance is a game of managing risk. They assess how likely will need to pay out on a claim for your car based on specific behaviors. Pleasure could specifically exclude to/from work, or it could be just "to be driven under 7500 miles a year", etc.

Worthless is in the mind of the beholder, and as such the mind. Funny thing about the net, it puts a pre-conceived notion even in your mind that makes you think that you are actually intelligent.

Actually on my ins. there is no limited miles on a pleasure car. As long as it was not going to be used as a commute back/forth to work

Sorry to hear that... Sounds uncomfortable. I think you would fit in great with the X1 crowd, they seem to have the same problem.

Now imagine how much cheaper your insurance would of been if your car was NOT a ZCP...... Not quite sure why you HAD to mention what is costs to insure a ZCP.

Combine that with where you live, age credit score etc and there is simply no way to realistically compare rates without having a lot more information. And no one provides the needed information! We've had countless threads oven this forum covering the subject but they are a waste of time without the proper information to really try and compare.

Exactly. Thank you for stating this. So sick of the "OMG GUYS WHY IS MY INSURANCE $180/MONTH WHEN HIS IS ONLY $100"

I paid about $1000 a year for my M3 with great coverage. With that said, I'm with kscarrol!

I apologize for bringing this thread back to life as I noticed some of you were not enjoying the experience. I just got a quote for full coverage (pleasure car) and $500 deductible in so cal for $1000 a year (multiple car discount, etc, etc).

For those of you with full coverage, how are you getting a cheaper rate than that? Is it location? Is it mileage driven per year? Is it the status of the car? Please enlighten me so I can save some money too.

Thanks in advance.
