AA ECU Flash...reviews?

Hi, i have a bone stock e92 m3, and feel as though i am lacking a bit of low down torque, and kinda desire a bit more pull. I was thinking of doing the ecu flash from AA, but was wondering whether it is worth it, espeicially on a bone stock car. This is likely to be my only mod, so will I get a lot out of it, and is it worth it, and voiding the warranty? Anybody have a car that is completely stock with just the ECU flash because everyone i know who has the AA ECU has many other mods, so its hard to judge... Will i feel it in a daily driving or only hard driving/track?
thanks

I have this mod, and my car just had remus race exhaust on it. To put it in perspective, I raced my buddy's H/C WS6 the other night from a roll, and we were dead even the entire way. His car has around 410-420rwhp and traps over 117mph in the 1/4 mile. It's worth it.

Hey Niqui,

I know a guy that has a BONE stock M3 with only the ECU done. He is an experienced racer and says this is WELL worth it for the money .

yes it is WELL worth it...if I could do only ONE peformance mod,it would be the ECU Upgrade from AA. Its awesome, and as a daily driver it makes it perfect now, it gives you the low end power you are looking for. I helped set up a group buy for local Toronto and a few Montreal guys to have the ECU Upgrade done locally, as opposed to having to ship it to Miami. Honestly...from reading your post...this mod is for you for sure!

and its only available in toronto as a group buy?...but i was wondering if any of your dealers have given you any trouble, or if you think they will....i know its really unnoticeable, but still, i just dont want to risk it.
m3 mtl, thanks again, maybe your friend can take me for a spin?
i love my car, but i need some more torque and pull...
i have been about other ecu flashes by other guys, the aa one is best?
thks again

yes you should do pulleys, theyre relatively inexpensive and offer pretty good gains and driving feel.

I would say pretty damn close to equal. Thats why many do the two together...and notice nice gains!

The AA ECU is not equal to the pulley, its twice as good. PencilGeek gained around 28rwhp with just the ECU and 9rwhp with the Pulley. It's actually 3 times better!

Definitely do the pulley and ECU together. I think the gains on both were really worth the price. The one thing i did notice is that my exhaust is now quieter at idle. Anyone else notice this on their cars?

Talking I am about to buy the AA software

I am going to buy the AA software, AA pulley, and the AA X-pipe and have it hooked up to my Remus Race exhaust. I am also going to buy some RPI Scoops I just wonder how much horse power I will have with all of this. stay tuned.......

Can anyone shed some light on State inspections, emissions, and Warrenty?

Obviously if I get all CAT delete, the system is not going to stay State legal and fail smog tests.

What I'd like to have set up is the AA software, secondary CAT delete, and go with Remus Race. A pully also probebly. Would this set up pass State emission tests? Would it pass if BMW was doing the inspection?

I'm waiting on all data before I make a move is why I'm asking this stuff.

Cheers,

I've come to learn quite a bit about the whole warranty issues because it was a major concern of mine when doing my AA Software Upgrade as well.

The warranty really comes down to your dealerership/service people. I have heard horror stories of people being denied warranty claims because of an exhaust or even something as dumb as a aftermarket air filter. But thats just a ridiculous dealership, and luckily, in my area we don't have any of these kinds of situations. If you know your dealership is STRICT and tends to give problems about an exhaust, then I would maybe stay away from the Software Upgrade.

But having said that, it is not detectable by BMW - unless your ECU is sent to BMW in Germany and analyzed there. BMW service doesn't have access to read your ECU or to see if anything has been changed or altered. The only way they will know you have it is if you opt for the 6MT Launch Control (available as an option from AA when doing their upgrade). If your tech decides to rev the car past 4000rpm, he will notice that the car won't pass 4000rpm and these will raise questions. But...How likely is your tech to sit in your car at a stand still, and rev it up PAST 4000rpm? Not very!

+1

And to be honest I have NEVER seen or heard of any dealer refusing warranty over an exhaust. Maybe on a Japanese manufacturer after reading all the horror stories with the GTR warranty. Ive NEVER EVER heard of ANY issues on American and German.
