335i MSport Not available in US
The RS4 Avant, M6 cab and S65 aren't exactly the cream of the crop in track competition though. I don't understand this mag - why didn't they put the M3 and RS4 sedan on that track? Oh and thanks for posting the scan M&M. |

In my defense, it had been so long since the original post I completely forgot the test details. Seems like they should have revised the 335i article though, seeing as how its in the same issue. Oh well. So: M3: 2 min 5.1 sec 335i: 2min 6.09 sec RS4: 2 min 7 sec So here's yet another example of the 335i beating the RS4 around a track. Now granted, when performance is this close you can always find a track to make one car faster than another. Also, altitude obviously played a roll here. But still that is just more proof of how good a car the 335i is. Now the M3, of course, is even better. |

Whats really interesting and enjoyable (for M coupe owners at least) is that if you flip to the back of the magazine, where all the road test data is, you will notice they got 5.38s for the Z4 M coupe.

Yeah, speaking of that why is the 335i so slow 0-60? It should have had an advantage at altitude being that it is turbocharged.

Plus, I just done understand your argument. BMW engineerd the M3 to be better. The M3 laps the ring about 23 seconds faster than the 335i...thats a lifetime in racing..

They didn't. We were just eliminating the posts which incite m3 vs. 335 arguments, along with the responses.

Thanks Jason. Nothing wrong with some friendly debate, but some folks just bring nothing but hate to the table. (And no I don't mean that to be directed to anyone specifically.)

I certainly broke no rules, disappointing that pro-M3 posts are kept but pro-335i posts were not kept.
I did not start the 335i comparison in this thread, others did. I leave these topics alone until I see blatant disinformation posted. |

Opinion
So was this issue simply "off topic" or "we (admins) don't support 335i vs M3 debates here". If it was the former I'd say most threads would have to be completely edited deleted. Conversations tend to wander OT but folks seem to self regulate and get things back on topic or simply enjoy the new conversation. If the issue was the latter I would say the debate it good and valuable and almost always remains civil.

All the m3 vs 335 stuff tends to degenerate into ad hominem attacks. It's most likely why each group finds the other so tiresome.

You want to see something equally crazy to the 335 beating the RS4 around that track? Take a look at their attained acceleration times: 335: 0-60 5.6s 1/4 mi 13.8s M3: 0-60 5.6s 1/4 mi 13.8s RS4: 0-60 5.4s 1/4 mi 13.5s How is the M3 not faster in a straight line than the 335???? |
