If you keep the RS4 Tony at EPL, in NH or CT (I forgot) will easily make it faster for you than a stock M3. And do visit Quattroworld.com.

And what can Tony do with an M3 I wonder? j/k If the OP is concerned about outright speed, I don't think the RS4 nor the M3 are the best choices. Maybe a GT-R or a 911 Turbo, or a ZR1.

I went from a B5 S4 to a E93 M3 and drove both cars through Chicago winters. With the S4 I was able to run all season tires all year long, as with the M3 I had a winter setup. I did not notice much difference between the two cars during the winter as far as driveability.
