I hate to say... but I have an incredibly cheap radar detector (I live in VA where they are illegal, so I just use it out of state)... The RD is also about 10 years old.
It alerts me on the highway WELL before coming across a 5-0, and I slow in plenty of time prior to a ticket. This RD was probably about $150 10 years ago and still works fantastic.. Why buy anything different if it has saved me time and time again (probably from about 10-15 tickets over the life of owning it...) This is just a rebuttal for anyone that says you MUST buy a V1 or Escort.... |

Why just last night my v1 was well used against laser, that's right you read it, laser.
Went through normal laser alarm by stoplight, round the turn, started down the hill, laser went off again, brake & downshift to a more respectable speed, there's the cop 3/4 way up the hill. Pinged me again when I was much closer. Ahh the relief when he pulls over the guy 2 cars back. Many more stories to tell but I bought it 8 years ago and have never looked back.

There are big problems with the new Escort 9500i and the majority of people are returning them because of less range than the Valentine One and the 8500X50.
http://www.guysoflidar.com/march-200...ctor-test.html http://guysoflidar.com/july-2007/off...ctor-test.html They are locking out signals from door openers and the 9500i is not alerting to cops that shoot radar in that area. Owners of the 9500i are also complaining that signals that they lock out are not staying locked out from the day before. They also say that their Sirius/XM radio is cutting out because of the 9500i and its GPS function. http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=23027 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=23178 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=23183 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=23036 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=22800 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...torder=asc&sta rt=0 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=22824 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=22762 http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=22803 Are you satisfied with your 9500i or returning it?Satisfied with 38% [ 21 ]Returning 61% [ 34 ]Total Votes : 55 |

V1.
I know it's not one of your choices, but it's worth the money. I was flying back home from Charleston, SC in my previous vehicle (2007 STi) the old V1 starts to chirp so I slow down and set the cruise, the Chrysler 300 that flew by me...he got the ticket. One save is all it takes and its worth it to me.

Get the V1 to start and with all the false alarms, you get used to them and know exactly where they will go off, then when you get hits out of the norm you know somethings up. Mine has paid for itself plenty of times now to make it worth the money... Im a fan of radar detectors.
