+1 i use a XONE:22 to plug into my studio monitors/computer. 300$ mixer that sounds great, definitely better then a numark.

What, looks wise? Don't care about that...as long as it does what I need and sounds good I really don't care what it looks like. You also told me to return my AKG Q701s because they were ugly...function > form. Allen and Heath is a nice company but was much more than I needed...and don't use tables so no need for something really high end like the pioneer.

Wanted USB so I could have a simple set up with the laptop and the controller. USB ie input, MIDI out does nothing for me... I don't do gigs or even want to, just like having a simple, easy to use setup that doesn't take up a lot of space.

No but firstly, thats a DJ mixer.... you dont really want that for mixing, but if you have to, pick up a A&H Xone:22 (I use it for my studio set up), sound quality is 200% better then numark and 100% better then pioneer dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

2ndly, numark shit breaks really fast, i promise.

ok here's my story... I have a laptop and apc40. All I want is to mix to monitors and headphones through a mixer, through a direct connection to the mixer, USB or HDMI, no work arounds. What will sound the best for under $500, I don't need a dj mixer but it's all I could come across that takes USB as an input. I'm already paying like $3-$4 per song to get lossless bullshit, it better sound good on the way out... I basically treat each track in session view as if it's a table, and use the akai to mix those. So I really just need an audio out that isn't headphone jack, and isn't a weird work-around nor convoluted. so the USB mixer suits me great. But I need suggestions...I have 30 days to return and figure something else out...

There is no work around brian. Connect speakers / headphones to that A&H, take a RCA cable to 1/8th" cable and plug the RCA end into the back of the mixer. Plug the 1/8th" end into the input on your laptop... done.
