New M3 via ED - Finally!
Well, I ordered my new M3 in April and had a very painful 3 months to wait until delivery. On order was a 2011 M3 sedan, Space Grey, Fox Red, 6 speed, Executive Package, Technology Package, EDC. Went with 18s as I will upgrade rims later and use these for winter/track duty.
Left Halifax, Nova Scotia on 30 June and spent the first day relaxing in Munich. On the morning of the 2nd, was picked up by the M division at the hotel and was shuttled out to see their facilities. Great experience and saw a few neat cars. Asked some questions about the next M3. I asked about the future of the naturally aspirated engine and all they would say is to keep an eye on HP per Kilo in future vehicle. Some pics: After a couple of hours at the M division, was shuttled of to The Welt for the most important part of the day. Many thanks to Christine Fleischer and Stefan Weiler for facilitating the M Division tour. Finally, the Welt. Checked in and breezed through the paperwork. Had an hour to kill before delivery, so off to tour the Welt. Enough fooling around, time to get the car! Was brought to the observation landing at the lounge and there she was, teasing us from around a corner. Sly devil that she is... Then we got closer. Heart rate raises: After a quick tour around the car, had to pop the hood... Love the colour combo. Was going to get Frozen Grey, but got scared off by the unknowns about maintaining it. Space Grey definitely looks great. Mean enough, but not too dark to hide the beautiful lines of this girl... The whole Welt process was flawless. Down the ramp, and out the door we went. All of the other deliveries came to halt as the M3 growled a lap of the center and down the ramp. Next stop, Stelvio Pass: A few obstacles along the way... The ride through the Stelvio Pass is unforgettable and a must if you have the time. Went from a sweltering hot 40 degrees celsius to snow in 30 minutes. What a ride! Bring gravol for those who might be prone to car sickness... Next stop Maranello and the Ferrari museum. Parked by one of the spots that rents Ferraris by the minute. M3 got a lot of attention.. Spent the next 3 weeks touring Italy: Milano, Bologna, Tuscany, Genova, Lago Di Garda and Venice. Did the 2000 km service in Munich and then moved on to Vienna (what a different car after break-in...) Finally back to Munich for a tearful goodbye. Hopefully she will arrive home soon. We miss her! many thanks to Halifax BMW for setting this up. Everything went as planned and it was a fantastic experience!

Try uploading them instead of using images from a local disk...

Nice!
You'll see, cars that were weaned off on the Stelvio tend to be faster than the others.

Yeah no kidding... I was doing the math with your 1994 shirt, then it occurred to me that shirt isn't from 1994 so kinda irrelevant.
Oh... I woulda said 15.

Yea, my son thinks its his. Lucky enough just to sit in it. When I was his age, I had to sit in a 69 Volvo Amazon that smoked like a ham! Hitch hikers used to drop their arms fast as we were approaching
The executive package is a canadian package that includes adjustable seat width, Individual sound, Sirius Sat radio, Homelink, Folding mirroirs, manual sunshades and electric rear sunshade. Was lucky enough to escape Italy without a scratch. Austrians and Germans drive extremely well. Not the same in Italy. At one point I was on the Autostrata doing 130 km/h. As we were approaching one of many tunnels, the car ahead of me (that I was passing) starts to swerve. As I pass, I see a 20ish girl smoking a cigarette with one hand, and talking on the phone with the other as she knee-drove into the tunnel. Can't wait to see her again (my car that is, not the knee driving fool).

Maybe I am missing something, but how did you get the gunmetal 18s...I thought they only come in silver now? |

I don't know how I ended up with the gun metal 18s, but I am happy I got them, as they suite this car perfectly (even though they will become winter/track wheels soon).

I agree....I love the 18s in gunmetal, not so much in silver. Would be interested to know if that means they are still available somehow.
