MSRP isn't related IMO. When you get a new Android phone or tablet, the first thing it does is demand that you update it. Same thing with most laptop computers too. But here, you want it done for you and the 100's of other people who buy the cable. And
you want THEM to do it for YOU.
Lol. Guess you read it wrong. When you get a new Android phone, will it say "Welcome to Android! You can't use your phone right now because it needs to be updated. Send Google an email and sit tight until they email you an update." ??

In any event, ESS has stated that they are "working" on it. Though honestly I don't know why they don't just upload the file and just put a link to it on the product page. Isn't it completely unusable unless you have 1) their cable, 2) their flashing software, and 3) their tune?

On this part I'm going to have to disagree with you. There are plenty of capable, certified people/companies out there that they can outsource this to so that they have a turn-key solution. There are a lot of things I'm pretty sure ESS and other companies had to either a) teach themselves or b) outsource in order to achieve a specific task, so what you're saying doesn't hold water.

I can see the issue about having to wait, but as Roman has said, they're working on it. You have to give credit where it is due: the community made known a problem, made a request, ESS has acknowledged it and is working to give the community what has been asked for. Given that, I don't really think further discussion is merited at this point.

And about that email database....that doesn't hold much water, either. The "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of pretty much all solicitation email resolves that quickly and easily.

In other news, how's your x-pipe?

We have added an E-flash software download link on our website under support. We have also included this info going forward in the E-flash instructions so customers will always have access to the latest version of E-flash when needed.

Awesome job ESS to step up. Something that should have been done long ago. It is this little stuff that is important to customers such as ease or convenience of switching tunes and is a huge hassle when it happened to me so I understand the OP. You solved a problem and now one less reason to go to another tuner.

Great job. I give credit where credit is due!

I realize you don't like this guy, but I totally agree with his post and see nothing wrong with it. it was a much needed move by ESS and it IS nice to see vendors accepting well deserved criticism and reacting appropriately in a quick manner.

^^ You guys crack me up. You need to follow some of the prior exchanges with Munit/M3TakesNYC/LongWong (or WannabM5 on M5 board). Same pattern: post something outrageous in the am, stay out of the fray, wait for everyone to reply, post something outrageous in the late pm, a bunch of people reply and the tit for tat continues on and on. If things get out of hand, don't post for a few days to let things cool down, wash, rinse and repeat. Pretty simple formula designed to get a rise out of people and is a very effective way to fuel to various fires, including getting tuners involved and sewing seeds of interesting conspiracy theories. I actually think its quite entertaining and make me laugh way more than I should in front of a computer screen, but not sure everyone takes these posts as they should, ie for comedy rather than credibility value.

This is the precise definition of a troll. I'm just amazed this individual has been able to get away with it for so long.
