New Tuning Option for S65 coming soon
So, I've managed to hook up with a local tuning company to see what we can do from a stock (and a modified) standpoint for our S65's. They are highly reputable, and want to make their mark in our world to compete with all the companies that simply aren't pushing the envelope anymore. Not disclosing who yet, as they haven't even gotten my stock ECU pull yet (this will happen this week), but I'll keep this thread updated on the progress.
Super excited to see where there this leads. There's even talk of a TT direction. We shall see.

I am very interested to see what they come up with. I have seen plenty of stock s65 dyno and have played around a fair amount without seeing much gain without considerable mods but I haven't been proven wrong before. I will say Bmw did a far better job maximizing these engines then amg did for theirs...

Based on their results on some other cars (and I've seen the dynos), I'd say their claims, so far, are looking pretty good.
And honestly, the industry has been stagnant for a while with this platform. Despite the negativity, and with my experience in the past of pushing the envelope on my 335d, I don't mind being a guinea pig to see where things go. Gintani could use some twin turbo competition, IMO (this is far further down the road...need to start small first).

twin turbo hasn't caught on due to heat issues in the cramped engine bay

There are only a handful of places to put the turbos, this is true.

The magic is more timing, less fuel, and shifting power through vanos or changing vanos to take advantage of mods. More timing is limited by octane, possibly stock timing is too much even on 93 pump. Less fuel you can take only so far before using up safety margins. BMW engineers did not leave much on the table with vanos, but you can shift the power around, or you can address mods such as reduced backpressure from deleting cats.
This is why the typical tune shows 0 to 10 rwhp. |

while i understand that turbos make massive power, why would anyone dilute the sound of the glorrious V8 by piping the exhaust into turbochargers?

So, we were able to pull the stock file from the car (because mine is a DCT, the stock pull includes not only the ECU data, but the transmission data, as well. This means that the pull takes a bit longer to grab than normal).
We talked a bit last night, and we're currently looking at a lot of different changes, not just in performance, but in drivability:
Feel free to provide other feedback as to what we can look at and work with, and what you guys are interested in out of your tune.

Yes, yes it does. This is one of those times you have to pay to play, because that kit is $$$$$$.

These cars already run quite lean for smog, would not more fuel offer the potential for BHP gain? |
