stereo volume
The stereo volume in my car goes to zero every time it is turned off? Is there a way to turn this off? I want it to go to the level that it was before I turned the care off.

Maybe there is something wrong? Mine always maintains the same volume and I don't recall ever seeing an option in iDrive for anything else.

I have my speed volume turned up, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But when I pull into my garage it is still much louder then when I pull out.

I believe there is a preset max volume that the stereo can start at. Its a convenience feature so you don't accidentally blast your ears off when you first start the car. Those of you who have never experienced the volume going down after you turn off the car have probably never reached the threshold. I actually like the feature. I thought I remember reading something about being able to adjust that threshold but only if you don't have iDrive. Someone else can comment or confirm that.

Mine does it as well. Doesn't bother me aside from one point -- I'm always afraid that I'm in a lull in the media (radio, iPod, etc) and when it source returns it will boom!!
I have another not scientifically proved factoid regarding this. I FEEL the volume comes up faster via the the volume switch on the wheel than the rotary switch on the dash. Sometimes I think I'm spinning that thing to volume. Have to check the manual again but I've never noticed an iDrive option regarding this. |

When I turn off any radio I ever owned, the volume went to zero as well and I was unable to hear it anymore. Im thinking the volume went to zero because the power was off... but I'm no radiologist.
