305/25/20 PS2's on 10.5" Rear Wheels

I just bought a set of 20" BBS CH-R's and am curious about rear tire sizing. I'm dropped on Eibach springs and ordered 295/25/20 PS2 rear tires (10.5" rear wheels with 25mm offset I believe), but am wondering if a 305/25/20 PS2 rear tire size will rub or if it will somehow not be the most ideal. The fronts will be 245/30/20 PS2's. Believe it or not, Tire Rack actually suggests a 305/25/20 rear tire, and they're usually super conservative. Please share your thoughts as I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff

Seems like you'll have a lot of understeer on that set up. Also I would imagine that while driving on the hwy's and at fast speeds, if you hit a bump or groove in the hwy you'll probably get some rubbing on the back wheel wells, nothing too bad though.

I don't think so. I run a similar setup and have no issues with "understeer" and no rubbing at all on 305/25/20's. My tires are Pirellis and the back is slammed on KW V3's. My wheel's offsets are +28, so just a tiny difference here. Unless the PS2's have a super beefy sidewall, you will not rub at all even with 4 people in your car.

Just seems like a big discrepancy from the front to rear tires. Only reason I said a bit of rubbing in the back is I am running 295/30/19’S in the rear with an Eibach drop and occasionally (though not at all lately), if I am going say 70mph or so on the freeway and I hit a dip, the tires do rub a but in the back. But honestly, it happened like 3 or 4 times when I first got them put on and it hasn’t happened much if at all lately.

Do you have PS2's? Maybe that's why.

PS2s you'll be golden, AD08's not so much. I rubbed w/ 295/30/19 10" +20 (good thing it was nothing major).

I got 245/295 combo, slightly less stagger than 245/305 but I don't notice any understeer but I do feel the steering is slightly more numb. I'll be going 255 in the front next.

that setup would cause understeer as many people will suggest, but really, do you push your car with 20s on it to those limits often that you'd even experience understeer? Besides it's easy to create oversteer with the throttle

For the street I say go 305s!

Thanks for the replies fellas. Sounds look there's differing opinions across the board, which I expected. I was hoping someone had 305/25/20 PS2's on a 10.5" wheel who could chime in, but I guess no one is running such a setup. I'm definitely more worried about rubbing than the understeer, and I don't think anyone can say for sure whether they'll rub or not. Guess I'll just keep my 295/25/20 this time around.

ch-r's

HI msha, just curious if you've fitted your CH-R's? How are they? I'm considering ordering a set myself. Any pics? thanks

I just put them on last night and think they look awesome I went with the 245/30/20 front 295/25/20 rear setup that I had originally ordered, and I actually rub on really bad roads even with 295's in the rear, let alone 305's. With that being said, you may want to go with 285/30/20 in the rear. Below is a quick iPhone pic I snapped this morning (photoshoot coming soon ):
