damn cop

well i was driving 15km/h over, so i was speeding, but so was everyone else around me, i was following the traffic. This bike comes behind me and the lights come on. I asked him why did you stop me when everybody else was doing the same speed. He said that i was over taking other cars... Anyway on top of it, it was a construction zone, which is 3 lane wide by the way... i get a $253 ticket, plus 3 points, i have 4 points from 2 years ago, so now i'll get a $415 fine on top of it. And they wonder why we hate them...

RCMP? I remember from my time in Manitoba that there was an inordinate number of a-holes in that group.

I know in Alberta, if you speed through a construction zone, you will get a ticket, doesn't matter what speed other people are doing around you, as long as you are doing the post limit you won't get a ticket; mind you that is if an officer is around enforcing that. Too many times i see people going well over the posted limit in a construction zone. It is unfortunate you got one, but something must have trigger the officer to pull you over.

what if everyone is doing 15 over... i can see if i was passing everybody changing lanes to get ahead, but i wasn't. i was in the middle lane following traffic. I don't usually believe stories of cop targeting certain cars, but come on...

People think this because the speed limits set on our highways are ancient and for a 1984 Corolla than anything modern. If you ever travel to Toronto and drive on 407 ETR, you will realize what I am talking about. Canadians are going the US way to set low limits and then ticket people to raise money.

Even if the 100 km/h limit was justified, there are very few countries in the world where Insurance companies supply the detectors to Cops for free and Insurance goes up as a result. In most places, you pay the fine and move on. Either there are too many cops with nothing better to do or need to raise money to support their respective towns / districts. How about enforcing the "real" laws and catching real criminals instead of the poor schmuck just trying to go with the traffic!

People think that cops are a**holes because they are enforcing speed laws that make 99% of Canadians Criminals. From an ethical standpoint if 99% of people are breaking a law then the law is wrong and should not be enforced. A fair law is one where 15% or less break that law.

Are you serious I go 15 km over always if it's 80 km or over that's barely even speeding. 10 over is normal for everyone I thought

That happened to me heading from Sherwood Park back into Edmonton.
Was doing 70kph, with a whole bunch of other cars around me, but just as I passed the the white unmarked truck parked in the on the curb, no more than 30 seconds later down the street an officer was stepping out and waving me to pull over...WTH...couldn't figure why I was pulled over, but just a routine check...until it dawned on me my carbon fibre hood at the time on my white car...maybe that triggered them, since it did make my car stuck out like a sore thumb...

I dunno...

The copper himself said it; you were passing people and attracted his attention despite the fact that everyone else were moseying along at 10-20KPH over the speed limit (and got away with it).

In France the recommended speed limit is 130km/h and when it rains 110km/h
I was in italy a few weeks ago, and same story except people drive like lunatics and no one indicates everyone drifts in and out of lanes and if you drive responsibly (i.e. indicate etc.) you will get into an accident
There was an X6 near venezia that passed me like I was a still car parked on the side of the 407, I was doing 180km.h

Canadian highways should have higher speed limits, although flow of traffic argument does sometimes work when you go fight your ticket to reduce the ticket but if the officer clocks you then that is it!

This has been the case everywhere in Europe and North America and despite having a stock exhaust!
However, when the top is down, and you give it some gas it will attracts attention.
Also sometimes colors like red is sure giveaway!

Wife Got A Speeding Ticket

Hey guys,

I don't post much on this site but I thought I would share this story with you all.

My wife got nailed doing 68 in a 50kph zone with cars ahead and behind her. We have a silverstone M3 sedan and the cop picked her out of 6 cars that were ahead and behind her. Totally BS!

The ticket is $35 with no demerits - what is the point here???? The money is nothing so you can't say it is a cash grab by the municipality and there are no demerits - so what is the point?

Anyway, we are going to fight it on principal.

I regularly drive 19-20 kph above the posted limits with no issues. Unbelievable!

I don't know if doing this is a good thing. The way people drive around here is dangerous enough even at low speed, can't imagine what would happen if they're allow to drive faster LOL.
