ESS VT3-725 Supercharged M3 DCT vs Whipple Ford GT (730whp)

Hey guys I hit the Shift-S3ctor track event yesterday at Willow Springs Raceway, the car ran extremely well and had a great time with an amazing group of enthusiasts.

At the end of the day some of us did a few side by side pulls and I did a rematch with my buddies Whipple Ford GT. At the last Shift-S3ctor airstrip event in November he was around 610whp and I managed to pull him decently there, but just recently he upgraded his Ford GT and he dynoed at 730whp! We were both anxious to see how the cars would stack up now with his additional 100+ WHP, enjoy!

Here's the same runs from his car's POV -

To give you an idea how fast the Ford GT is, here is a very close run the same day against 640whp C6 Z06 on E85 -

Here's how that same 640whp C6 Z06 did against a GT2 with 700+ HP, and an Alpha 9 GTR at the SHIFT-S3CTOR Trona Airstrip Attack in Feb.

Here's some pics as well -

Very nice, crazy how starting in a different gear helped him so much.

eh, starting a race in 3rd?

I much rather see the cars racing from a dig; but I guess roll racing seems to be the new thing

Are you a "debbie downer" in every post? We didn't want to go from a dig, nobody does really, the race was from 55 on, it would have been pointless on street tires and in 30 degree weather, hence the reason I started in 3rd. BUT I hear you, we may do a 1/4 mile event, so you can find something else to complain about if vids are posted from that event.

Agreed, if it was warmer out I'd started in 2nd as well. I had MDM on, at the start it did kick in a little bit, but that's the deal with RWD cars on street tires in very cold weather.

nice atitude ; you post stuff on a public forum and I just commented; isn't that how the internet works? I wasn't even being a "debbie downer" just stating my opinion. It seems that roll racing is taking over, as evident by my old home track (Englishtown) renting it out to do roll racing through the 1/4 mile track (weird). I'm just old school I guess and a fan of drag racing. Part of the race is being able to feather the car off the line and I think it's more "driving" racing from a dig. But again to each his own

I think the car would be faster with no MDM/TC on either. Every time it intervenes the car is cutting out, you can feather the throttle easier.

Lol, I'm just having some fun with you, and yes it is old school to go from a dig nothing wrong with that, I have a deep appreciation for it, I currently hold the WR on a NA E9X M3 in the 1/4 mile. Regardless these cars were not setup for it at this event. Hopefully we'll setup a 1/4 mile event in the near future.

why? one less gear multiples power/torque at the wheels by a HUGE portion. As much as a 150hp or more would in an equivelent gear. That is torque multiplication. Try accelerating in 1st, 2nd and feel the pull. Then go on a highway and do 3rd and 4th. Much less acceleration

Killer runs Drew! Yeah MDM was a problem for sure as it was sooo cold I was spinning in every gear and MDM was intervening which hurt my run against Ryan's Z06. It's one of those things where you need it on for the initial hit (or you will spin) but when you shift MDM causes a delay in the shift. As the saying goes...'you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't...'

Nice run man, always good to see the M3's represent vs those super power cars. I'm not a huge fan of 1/4 mile races and would rather see and race from a roll, just think it shows the cars potential. After all the M3 is not a 1/4 mile racer. I love the triple digits. Nice vid as always
