Fidelity/Assurant Extended Warranty - Experience?
Firstly - sorry for another extended warranty thread. I've reviewed a bunch of others, but still don't have enough feedback on these warranties to make a call.
Anyway, I pick up my M3 tomorrow (2011, E92) and have been offered an extended warranty through Fidelity by the dealership. Does anyone have experience with them? My alternative is to go through Assurant. Again, any direct experience? I'm really looking to understand how they handled any claims, whether big or small, and if you had any significant problems with either of them. Price for each is similar - their top level of coverage is a little over $3k for 3 years/36k miles. Appreciate any help. P.S. Would it be worth making a sticky thread, which included experience people had under each extended warranty provider at the top of the board? There's a lot on this forum about extended warranties, but very little showing peoples direct experience with each provider, which I think is what most people are looking for. |

I have Fidelity and am on the 5yr/60k mile plan with a $100 deductible. Fortunately I haven't had any issues, but my dealership spoke very highly of the and gave me a good deal. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

No worries - thanks for the response.
The dealer gave me good feedback on them too, but it's hard to tell if they're just giving that feedback to get the warranty sale. |

I have the USAA/Assurant 0 deductible warranty and it is great. AC evaporator, valve cover gaskets, and even motor mounts covered with no issues.

May be eligible for USAA (looking into this), but don't think it's going to happen. Heard really good things though, which is why I was leaning towards Assurant initially as I was aware they underwrite the USAA policies. |

Assurant underwrote my CarMax warranty and paid out 16k over 1.5 years. They were a little hard on my independent but no issues at the dealer.

Any idea what was behind the issue with the independent, or just that they were happier to take BMW at their word? |

Car was a one owner Audi Allroad 2004, bought in 2007 with 35k miles just out of factory warranty. Suspension felt rubbery so I went to my independent tire guy and he advised front rubber replacement (they use soft rubber to improve ride comfort but it just does not hold up. It was an $800 job from memory. They sent inspectors, took 3 days to approve gave him trouble with payment etc. Afterward all repairs were at the dealer and no issues (just paid deductible), until transmission went out. The dealer quoted 8k for new tranny, they wanted a 3.5k rebuilt, eventually they agreed to pay 6k for new, I paid 1k and the dealer dropped 1k. I also lost two suspension air bags, 1k a pop, and leaking oil lines to the turbos, 2k, plus bushings again (done by the dealer this time). Sold the car at 55k miles. Funny I still love the Allroad (and I had an 03 that spent 35 days at he dealer getting a whole new steering rack installed.

I had a fidelity warranty several years ago and they covered a $2k repair and towing without questions. Then the car was totaled and they gave me money back - pro rated. So good experience here.

That is not a good deal for Fidelity. Nego with them! you can get 6yr/60k Platinum plan for around $3500. I just bought the Gold plan 6yr/60k for $2400, planning to keep it for while |

Where did you guys get those prices?
They seem pretty low compared to most, who pay $5,000 to have coverage up to 100,000.

The prices I have are for an additional 3 years/36k. Current vehicle age/mileage is 3.5 years/35k, so this would take me to 6.5 years/71k. With Assurant, I think they're as low as they'll go on price, whilst Fidelity already includes a significant price drop from initial quote - I can assure you I like to negotiate! haha All feedback on prices appreciated. From reading around, the $3k mark to take the car to 6.5 years/71k seemed pretty reasonable to me. |

just to comfirm, these are 3rd party warranties offered by BMW dealerships? Can I buy this if my car is currently out of warranty?

In my case:
- The Fidelity option is a 3rd party warranty through dealership - The Assurant warranty is directly through Assurant, nothing to do with the dealership. They will quote directly if you submit a request online. Not sure if they require an existing manufacturers warranty, or if they will quote outwith that period. |

Not 100% sure with Fidelity, but I think so.
Assurant will refund on a pro-rated basis for any remaining time on the warranty if you cancel, though I'm not sure if that changes if you have made a claim. |
