Is there a problem with installing Rook Rack for the coupe with CF Roof? What are the disadvantage?

The CF roof on the coupe does not have the mounts from factory for the roof rack. If you install a roof rack it will have to mount on the side pillars which is not the most ideal for your nice paint. The non- CF roofs have factory roof mount points, touchless racks! : D

My 2013 E92 carbon roof has the mounting points, under the covers, same as a metal roof.

So all of these horror stories that the roof and paint will get damage is a myth or bust? Also how come Thule doesn't sell a rack for the M3? Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry, I don't know, as I haven't put a rack on the CF roof. But the feet are there, same as on our metal E90.

Thule does make roof racks for both the e90 and e92. Here's one of my setups...

That is an E90 M3.... I think it is the Atlantis 1600, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I have way too many Thule accessories.

that looks great, I am going to be doing the same this summer. We used our Atlantis 1600 on our Q5 this winter and will try it on our E90 M3 this summer.

Question is, why did you mount it so far back? I know even on our Q5 we had some over hang on the front of the car.

Bumping this up because I'm going nuts not being able to take my mountain bike anywhere and I'm strongly considering the OEM bars.

Really? No contact with paint?

Yes, no contact with the paint. It looks like the feet sit on the car but they don't. When you flip open the cover you will see it mounts in the channel, not on the paint.

That's fantastic. I had yakima integrated racks on a WRX and they ruined the paint around the mounting points.

great setup, quick question, do you know if Thule or Yakima roof boxes would fit the BMW base supports? or they're all unique to their own support systems?

Like here's a Thule 1600, notice how the clamps are adjustable along the length of the box.

Is there an option either OEM or Thule that removes quickly? I'm not looking to have a rack on my car full time but it would be really nice here and there.

My rack on my old E92.

I never had a problem with it. Since I have dumped the M3 I am now selling the complete rack with two bike trays.

The OEM rack screws into the roof via 4 screws. It takes about 1 minute to remove/install.

OEM is the easy 4 screws. So easy a caveman can do it with his primitive tools

Perfect, as long as it's quick/easy and doesn't leave marks then I'm all in.

The shorter foot pack makes it look so much better. What's the part number on them by the way? I'm looking to setup a roof rack on my E90 soon...thanks!
